Not keeping liquids down and feel light headed

Hi,

I'm 9 weeks 4 days pregnant and really struggling. Constantly feel sick. Even water and fluids in general are coming back out and I feel light headed and flustered. I've been prescribed two different anti sickness tablets and they're both not helping.

What do I do?

Thanks in advance.

You go to the doctor today, and if you can't go to the doctor you call 111 now.you will be ok but you need to be seen asap. Call them now?

chocolateisavegetable · 17/05/2023 13:42

As previous poster - GP or 111. You may need anti-nausea and fluids via IV. They may then put you on stronger medication

babyk2023 · 17/05/2023 13:44

I called my GP and the receptionist said the appointment they have available is at 1:50pm tomorrow. I've been feeling like this for days now and it's really catching up with me. I feel like I'll probably pass out by tomorrow :(

Phone your local hospital and ask if they have an Early Pregnancy Unit. They should be able to help. Good luck.

This is nonsense, if you are not keeping fluids down and feel lightheaded go to A&E. They will be able to give you something stronger and/ or IV fluids. Are you alone or is someone with you ?

I had HG with both pregnancies.

If you can get it, Ondansetron is the best. It was the only thing that worked and it made me able to function.

If you do manage to get a prescription, be mindful that it causes constipation so make sure you've got something for that too.

babyk2023 · 17/05/2023 13:56

@Neurodiversitydoctor my partner finishes work at 2 (in five mins).

Will I be turned down if I go to A&E and be told to go see my GP as I'll be seen as wasting their time? Sorry for sounding stupid but I don't want them to think I'm wasting NHS hospital time and resources...?

Did you go via your GP or the hospital? X

Ice cold smoothie. Really tiny sips and don't keep it within eyesight in between sips.

Hi! I’m 9+1, I was seen in the early pregnancy unit at 7 weeks and told by the doctor if I can’t keep any fluids or food down then I’d need seeing in hospital.

I’d either try and speak to the EPU as you can self refer to them in some areas, or get yourself down to a&e, you don’t want to end up dehydrated or you’ll end up quite poorly x

babyk2023 · 17/05/2023 14:24

I have a GP appointment at 3pm. Hopefully they give something stronger. Otherwise I think I'll need to go to A&E. Really trying to only use A&E as absolute last resort as I'm worried what staff will think of me :/ hopefully the GP can help? X

I have worked in many hospitals, I think it is very unlikely you will be turned away, but n any event they can check your vital signs and make sure you are not too dehydrated.

If your DP is home now then could he go out to get something like ice polls, most likely to stay down ?

When is the last time you wee'd and was it very dark ? That is a sign of dehydration.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 17/05/2023 14:29

X Post glad you are getting seen ✌they can give you something that works. Do keep us posted.

I got sent to the hospital by my GP after she did a few tests due to dehydration. At the hospital now. Been told I have HG. Been told I'll need a scan to rule out a molar pregnancy. Really worried about this. How common is this if a heartbeat has been seen on a scan before?

I think that is extremely unlikely if a heartbeat was seen in the uterus before. I hope they have got some fluids up and you start to feel much better soon.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 17/05/2023 17:21

Also the Dr you have just seen will be very junior, they will be rightly concerned about not missing something serious.

Seasidegirl11 · 17/05/2023 18:38

Glad you went to hospital. I was admitted for inpatient care last week. Needed a lot of fluids and meds to get my HG under control. Now on ondanestron and off work and actually have a couple of hours in the evening now when I’m not nauseous or sick and it’s such a relief. Been told not to leave so long again and the minute I start spiralling to go back to the gynae ward (I have instant access now). Wish I went weeks ago. 12 weeks now and HG still going strong. Hope u feel better soon, there’s an HG support thread on this forum that you might want to join.

ElmTree22 · 17/05/2023 19:06

I had hg throughout my pregnancy with dd, it's absolutely horrendous. I advice to go down any route possible to get better meds and some fluids in. A&e won't judge you or care. It's so unbelievably tough, my heart goes out to you. Unless you've had it, you can't imagine how awful it is. Keep strong, it should be a bit more bearable with some decent meds.
