Has anyone done this in the latter stages of pregnancy, and if so, what are your top tips for making it less like hell on earth???

I'm feeling overwhelmed at the thought of it all, especially because we haven't got a completion date yet so it's all up in the air.

Get professional packers in, it will be the best money you ever spend. Pack an overnight bag and one box with kettle chargers etc, put it in your car boot and go out for the day.

They will literally pack everything that isn't nailed down, label it and put it in the right room at the other end.

Absolutely the way to go.

@GiveOverRover this, with bells on!

Yep, exactly what GiveOverRover said.
Pay to get full packing.

had it done at 8 months.
no packers or anything.
biggest problem was being on my feet all the time. my feet turned all flat at the bottom then.

I moved 2 weeks before I gave birth (planned c sec so knew when it was happening) on a boiling hot day.

Professional packers. Easy food and accessible snacks etc. make sure beds are set up as soon as you’re in the new place. Get friends/family to come and help if you’re happy with that (I was very much in nesting mode so wanted total control). It actually wasn’t too bad. Don’t overthink it - it’s just one of those things!

Pay for movers
Do as little as possible
I did and still needed a day of rest the next day as was up and down stairs more times than was sensible

I moved 4 weeks post partum - pay for packing and unpacking! We moved 250 miles so I was a bit worried about moving from one hospital to another for health visitor etc but actually it was fine. I just told my health visitor and she moved me across for me, I didn't have to do anything.

We moved at 8 months and to a new area. Will you need to change hospitals? If so get in touch via phone with the new teams and ask what do you need to do. Ie I had to register with my gp first which i literally did as soon as the removals men left the house.

To make life easier - I packed everything myself but did not lift any boxes. I think I would rather pack so you can have a good clear out before moving.

And use removal people - we paid for a man and van service and got two vans with 6 men who moved everything.

Can you start boxing/sorting out non essentials now?

We moved at seven months to my parents as we were waiting to complete, everything went into storage, I packed slowly over a month so that it didn't feel like too much. We didn't complete until DD was 7 weeks old, and had to move and decorate with a newborn, something I would have rather done when pregnant, but it had all got delayed. Rope In help where possible.
