Tinned meatballs should be fine. Once opened, eat straight away.

Just remember they smell like dog food though

When I was preggers the first time, I had a craving for Campbell's tinned meatballs. Had them once or twice a week for a couple of months. I'm still here and so is DS.

@Gwdihooooo lol, taste so good tho 🤣
@CharlottenBerg ah what a relief !

By the way, that 'processed meat' means stuff like 'deli meat', like pork luncheon meat, salami, ham, and so on.

@CharlottenBerg that’s what I thought so I was confused when ever that came up !

They mean cold cooked meats in your screenshot. It looks like it's an US site because you can eat cold cooked meats in the UK. Cured meats are supposed to be cooked before eating if pregnant.

Canned meatballs heated up will be fine as cooking would kill any bacteria (which won't be present in the canned food as its been cooked already)

Julias21 · 08/05/2023 14:51

@dementedpixie yes I’m uk but that’s what came up and couldn’t find anything for uk on tinned meatballs lol ! But that’s reassuring, thank you

Yup. Pork, chicken, turkey beef, lamb, if tinned.

The issue with cured meats that are not cooked is that they can carry listeria, rare but possible, if you use them as soon as you open the packet the risk is far lower and if you cook it, the risk is nearly zero

dementedpixie · 08/05/2023 15:26

Any tinned food will be fine as they will be cooked already. If you're heating the contents then there is even less risk.

In the nicest possible way, you're massively overthinking this. Most the info on Google about what you can eat when pregnant doesn't apply if you are in the UK. Follow the NHS guidance and there is remarkably little that is a problem 😀

PickledScrump · 08/05/2023 18:51

Best advice, stay well away from google when pregnant.

elevenplusdilemma · 08/05/2023 19:34

Anything in a can would be fine. They put the stuff (beans, soup, meatballs, whatever) in the cans then heat it to a zillion degrees (slight exaggeration), which is why they last so long.
