I want to hear about Csections

Hey.
So little bit of background, I am 30, I have a 8 year old and a 5 year old. 8 year olds pregnancy was fine apart from lots of reduced movements, induced at 38 weeks, birth was amazing - loved it! Weighed 5.9oz
My 5 year olds pregnancy, was fine, again reduced movements so had to be induced at 37 weeks - birth was AWFUL!! Birthing pool for 4 hours, they had to break my waters as I was in labour for I think it was like 10 hours etc, I was falling asleep in the pool, so they got me out on the bed where they broke my waters, went into septic shock and was pinned down to get a canular in. I don't remember anything else as I was in about of consciousness.
Me and daughter was treated for 4 days for sepsis, then at 6 days old she was rushed to high dependency unit for 2 weeks, as she was on deaths door. She weighed 6.14oz

Both of my pregnancies I wanted a eppy, but I was so out of it and not thinking in both labors, by the time I asked for it, it was too late so I know full well in this pregnancy I know I'll forget or be too focused on getting through the pain and I just won't ask for it. It absolutely petrifys me thinking about giving birth naturally again.

So basically, I am pregnant again... and I really want to opt for a c-section. I know some people will say I can't, or they will moan. But my last birthing experience was absolutely awful and still suffer PTSD from it.

Can I hear your non emergency c-section stories, good or bad please.

Lots of lovely replies on here. All i would add is stick to your guns, say you have chosen an elective section due to traumatic previous birth. This is your birth plan choice and stick to it. They might try to convince you to go natural, but just say your mind is made up, it is for your mental health and they will listen. X

100% and do your own research online before the consultant appointment about the risks. They will read you the risks of ALL sections (including emergency when people have been losing blood, nearly passing out from days in labour etc before going in) so the risks that they then attribute to the ‘section’ is actually more because it was saving someone’s life and isn’t a true risk of an elective section. Also bear in mind that you don’t sign a form and read the risks of a vaginal birth before having one so no one’s terrified to sign that form but the section one was a bit scary signing on the day when it’s written in black and white, I just read it in advance and didn’t read it again when I got there, just signed it quickly!

@YouJustDoYou did they say anything about your third being riskier as you’d already had two or did they think it was quite straightforward? I know lots of people have three but I’m now on my second and probably would like a third but a bit scared to have a third section 🙈

I have had 3 c-sections and the consultant did not have any concerns about the third. However she said she would not be keen on me having a fourth. I do know people who have had 4 with no complications though.

@Arxx I’m currently pregnant and have been drinking a lot of peppermint tea as a replacement for my regular tea and coffee so I’ll see if this c-section I have that issue. Although it was painful and uncomfortable if I get it again at least I’ll know it’s normal and will pass. I’d never heard of it before so was quite panicky.

@YouJustDoYou re number of sections. It completely depends on the individual. After each section, the surgeon should tell you about your level of risk for another one. I've had 3 and the surgeon has told me each time. After the 3rd, he said I could have another in 18 months, which I was surprised at as he spent a lot of time removing scar tissue and rearranging my organs during the 3rd! So for me a 4th is possible (but not happening!).

@Scottishgirl85 when did they tell you this? I felt after the last time you were just at the ward to recover and no one ever came and said how it actually went (other than the fact you were alive and well). I looked on the app after and saw a few vague shorthand comments about the section itself but don’t actually know how it went or whether the next one is expected to be straightforward

@ThomasinaLivesHere hopefully that helps then 🤞🏼 I watched too many YouTube videos about sections and it was mentioned in a few so I thought it didn’t hurt to take it anyway
