Reduced movements

I'm supposed to be keeping a real close eye on my little ones movements due to low fluid and small AC growth until the 18th but how an earth do you actually judge if they are reduced or not. I feel like she's non stop on the go but today I've really been watching close and I've felt hardly anything.. I'm getting concerned but also wondering if I'm being dramatic

If your worried get it checked. They would rather see you and all be fine. Hope all is OK

“Reduced movements” is anything less than you’re used to.

If she’s usually “non stop on the go” and now you’ve hardly get anything, that’s reduced movements and you need to get it checked out asap.

Please do not wait. They would rather you go in 100 times and have nothing wrong than for you to not go in and something tragic happen.

Echoing others, go in and get checked.

You’ve answered your own question lovely.. as soon as movements feel ‘off’ then you get checked. You’re absolutely not being dramatic. Sending love x

Go and get checked, always better safe than sorry

Even feeling her but not as powerful, is that reduced also?

Yes it’s reduced. The intensity is reduced.

Smurf123 · 06/05/2023 13:40

Yes. Please do not wait.

I was regularly in day assessment and there were lots of women who came in with reduced movements, and each and every time the midwives told them they should have come in earlier.

I used to get worried when I'd have a few hours of quieter movements. Try not to panic, baby could just be sleeping. I would jump up and down, eat some ice cream or something really cold, have some chocolate and then lay on your side. Give it 10 mins then if nothing; call triage

Blue2020 · 06/05/2023 15:44

I would go in. They are used to people going in for reduced movements and it’s better to be reassured and be checked.

I had soo many ctg’s between 31 and 35weeks. The first time was me instigating it by going to mac due to reduced movements (I hadn’t felt him in a day and the midwife said I should come in sooner than that, as soon as I notice he’s not moving the usual pattern). After that it was mostly my bp monitoring and they decided to do ctgs while I was in, which my little one loved failing to meet the criteria. I ended up with preeclampsia which was picked up early on a routine bp check while I was in on that 31 week reduced movements monitoring.

Bibijuju · 06/05/2023 15:52

Best thing is to get checked - they may ask you to drink a pint of cold water and lie on your side for a bit when you phone the first time but if this doesn’t work or
you are still concerned they’ll want to monitor you.

PickledScrump · 06/05/2023 21:15

It’s not reduced movements it’s any change in movements you need to look out for. So that can be more/less/weaker. Anything that you feel isn’t normal get checked out.

Also don’t try to make baby move by drinking cold or sugary drinks or jumping around. If you were feeling poorly and then someone chucked cold water on you, you’d get up and move but it wouldn’t mean you were better. Midwives used to tell you to do this but they dont anymore.

Definitely get checked out, at least it will put your mind at ease.

I'm nearly 39 weeks and I went in twice with changed movements. He had similar amount of movements but they had changed in intensity. He was fine but it settled my mind knowing for definite he is fine :)
