I was told my baby was measuring big so they did a blood test for gestational diabetes(this time I didn’t have to fast or drink the weird orange drink), I was already tested for this weeks ago and it came back negative they called and told me my sugars were high and I need to come In to monitor my sugar levels has anyone ever had high blood sugars and not have diabetes? I’m at the end of my pregnancy I am so fatigued all the time and i just want to relax and not have to keep going in for appointments

I was about 36 weeks and said I had a big baby and lots of fluid. Told to test sugars for a week. Had a few high readings but in the end, endocrine specialist said cannot say I had GD so late in pregnancy, body is designed to store fat later on and higher sugars are quite normal.

My big baby was 4 days late, weighing 7lb 5!

I are fairly healthy before and during my pregnancy, exercised and bmi was about 20 prior to pregnancy if that helps

Ask them for a meter - not sure the point of you coming in repeatedly when you can do it easily enough at home.

Not quite the same but I consistently had sugar in my urine throughout the second half of pregnancy.

But blood tests always came back fine. With me they just concluded that it was a weird thing my body did. At points I measured big but it turned out I just had a giant placenta!

I had a home birth at 40+8 with baby weighing 7lb 13. All was fine and well.

Go in. It might just be slightly higher because they are at the end but GD is progressive and can develop quite late. If your baby is already quite big then just let them check for safety's sake. They should give you testing by equipment so you can keep an eye and just adjust diet slightly. Also keep moving and make sure you are drinking lots of water. I have GD, severely by the end of my third pregnancy, and still only went in fortnightly as long as I tested / medicated and kept things even. If you are at the end how many more appointments can it be?

The original test only gave a snapshot of what was happening at that moment in time.

Glucose monitoring will give a fuller picture of what is happening at present.
