Heavy bleeding 9 weeks pregnant, scan ok- positive stories welcome

Hi there,

I’m 9 weeks and 4 days pregnant by IVF and hoping for some positive stories. I started spotting last Thursday, it was brown and very light but I thought it was good to get it checked so I went to the early pregnancy unit and had a scan. The scan was good and the baby had a strong heartbeat. They said to come back if it gets worse.

On Monday it got a lot heavier, but it was still brown. It was the bank holiday so I couldn’t get a scan at the EPU, so I got a private scan, again everything was fine and I felt very relieved. When I spoke to the doctor they said to worry if it’s red and gushing, but brown is fine.

Come Wednesday, I had heavy red bleeding which filled a sanitary towel in just over an hour and lasted a few hours, I got scanned again and everything was fine, I couldn’t believe it. It’s now back to dark brown spotting again.

I’ve had so many scans now, but I’m just so so worried and they can’t find any reason for the bleeding. Has anyone had a similar experience but had a positive outcome? Would love to know.

Thanks for sharing @MotherOfCatBoy 😊

Thank you @Mrsstart, I will do. I’m ok, it’s dark brown/black heavy spotting now, I’m just hoping it goes away! Do you mind me asking what colour your spotting was after the big bleed? Xx

@Springbud I stayed bright red. Brown is good news though as it's old blood xx

I just wanted to stop by and help someone in the same situation. I started to bleed small brown around 10 weeks. In three days it became pink. I was crazy anxious and scared. Went to scan, thank dear God all was fine, and it was just some hematoma. So it is not necessary bad

Thanks Kispanda, and everyone else that commented.

To update (particularly for anyone that finds this thread with the same worry) I’m now 14 weeks and the baby has been fine at every scan :)

Eventually (it took them a while) they saw a large subchorionic hematoma, which got larger, and then smaller at each scan. I’m still spotting brown blood, but they can’t see it on a scan anymore.

Thanks again everyone 😊
