Baby changing bags: backpack or not

Hi,

Been having a look at baby changing bags and was wondering how necessary it is to be a backpack? I'm thinking more along the lines of something that will definitely strap onto a pushchair and I can easily carry in and out of someone's house for example. Have you found that having a back pack changing bag is useful?

I had a one strap one that matched the pram to start with. I found it hard work as when carrying it your hands are not really free. Quickly swapped to a backpack style one x

We had one that could do both - long strap for the pram, but backpack is essential when you're chasing after a toddler.

We started with one that hung beautifully on the pram and quickly just repurposed an existing backpack. A backpack is so much more practical.

We have one that is a backpack, can be over body and can attach to the pram.

Most times with the pram the changing bag goes in the basket underneath but I would wear it as backpack or on the back of the pram if the basket is full. Sometimes over the body is easier, say if you’re getting things in and out of the bag like queuing at feeding time and getting something out to placate baby and your purse.

DC is 18m now and the pram isn’t always necessary so we sometimes take the trike now and it’s useful to have a backpack bag because there’s nowhere to store the bag on the trike. We had a lightweight buggy and the changing bag would be too heavy to be on the back of there and the basket is too small.

Backpack is much more practical - have a look on Amazon or in a sports shop to find one you like. Black won’t show so much dirt and you need one which can be wiped out easily. Don’t buy one advertised as a baby changing bag as the price will be much higher for the same thing!

You can sling a backpack on a buggy if you need to. Or wear it on your back. It's a lot more practical.

I have a cross body bag, I never ever hang it on the pram. It goes under the pram or I wear it B-road body. When my DS got older I switched to a backpack. A backpack is asp useful if you are wearing them in a sling.

Yes, it's really handy once they're walking well enough that you don't need a buggy to get from the car to softplay/toddler group/the park/friend's house but do still need all the nappies etc.

TruffleShuffles · 30/04/2023 19:16

We did backpack and found it much more practical, like others have said you can put it over the pram handles like a normal bag as well as on your back. Being hands free with the bag out the way just makes things easier.

Most useful is a standard backpack, not a specific changing bag at all. Had a changing bag that was a cross body one. Ditched it when DC1 was about 3 months old for a £15 Sports Direct backpack and never looked back. Changing bags are a total rip-off.

Backpack all the way.

My babymel changing bag was a backpack and it converted to a longer strap to go into the back of the pram.
Nearly 4 years later still in great condition!

Changing bags are a waste of money. A normal back pack is perfect with something like this inside www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/skiphop-pronto-changing-mats-a6735.html

You don’t need an expensive branded changing mat

Backpack 10000% I don't know how people buy "changing bags" they're totaly impractical and expensive. Any backpack with a couple of pockets will do. You can also make your own pockets in it by using old washbags to separate items which works well.

How funny! I HATED my backpack! I like a big bucket bag that lives under the pram or sits on the floor and I can grab things and chuck things in it at will.

If we were going out for a walking day out or not taking the pram then I might take the backpack but I hate not being able to get things in and out easily.

I use one like this
