Hi Ladies, I suffer with spinal arthiritis and had to come off my anti inflammitories (I basically stopped when we were TTC for this rainbow baby) as i read they arent allowed when pregnant so i thought i may as well stop while TTC, and went on to Co-codomal, ,Doctors and midwives told me they're OK to take for my back, then i ended up in hospital a bit poorly due to being bunged up, but I was so sick I thought something was wrong, and midwives and a DR swapped them to Dihydrocodeine (and prescribed some lactulose 🤣)

i susppose my question is has anyone taken these or any codeine based medicine in the third trimester now or in previous pregnancies as ive been told my baby will be fine, and they will just keep an eye on her for first couple of hours to check she's OK. I have spoken to 2 ladies who have had to take it due to SPD in third trimester there babies were fine and they were home same day as birth, so that gives me hope.

Any replies are appreciated thank you lovely people Xx

I was prescribed this last week at 38 weeks on the acute maternity assessment ward, I had a kidney infection. I didn't even question if they would be safe or not due to being on a maternity ward. I only needed a couple over a few days so no prolonged or regular use.
I'm sure if they weren't safe they wouldn't have given them to you, I know it's a worry though.

See mines been over a few months but I was told they're completely fine as I say people with SPD take it mostly all the way through, think I was just after some reassurance really! Thank you for your reply, and I hope your feeling better!

I had to take small dose after tooth extraction (two tablets over couple of hours)- I've panicked after and spoke to a head consultant at maternity ward (because a stupid pharmacist gave me a scare). He explained to me that there is VERY SMALL risk of issues when people are prescribed regular, high dosage throughout the course pregnancy, and even then all it means is they may need to monitor the pregnancy more closely at certain points :)
