Sitting cross legged when pregnant

I’m 37 weeks now and up until today I didn’t realise you weren’t supposed to sit cross legged while pregnant I have been sitting cross legged nearly every day since being pregnant it’s how I’ve always sat especially since being pregnant as I get lower back pain when I sit normal even when I’m on a chair or seat I’ll pick my legs up and criss cross them , especially at night when I game with my friends I sometimes sit crossed legged for more then an hour didn’t realise it caused joint imbalance maybe that’s why I’ve been having a lot of joint pain? Anyone else sit like this during pregnancy??

Why aren't you supposed to? I'm 35 weeks and sit cross legged a lot as it's comfier.

It discourages the baby from being in the optimum position apparently.

If your baby is facing your back by now then all good

@elm26 apparently the baby can’t get in the right position and it also causes strain to joints but I also find it so much comfier to sit as sitting normally gives me lower back pain

Never heard this and I have a specially trained yoga teacher who always makes me sit cross legged to loosen the hips 🤣

It’s how Indian women of all religious are told to sit. And sitting too much will never help the baby move - you have to walk and move. In India heavily pregnant women are often encouraged to squat-clean floors as as it gets the baby into the right position.

The main problem is that sitting cross legged does not encourage healthy blood flow in the legs, and can give you leg cramps or swollen legs, which is quite awful 😣. But if you haven't had those symptoms, then great, and in any case no harm to the baby.
