Braxton hicks and very tender womb at 19 weeks

Has these pretty constantly over the last few weeks, no painful but just feel uterus harden and it’s an uncomfortable sensation. I didn’t worry as read here it’s normal. I also have so much tenderness in my womb though, tender to touch or press and also walking around. Not painful just uncomfortable and occasionally wakes me up at night. A bit sore. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s not round ligament pain as I have that too and that’s to the side. Anyway I went to get checked out at the hospital as the MW said so and scan showed everything normal but the doctor said it was strange to get BH this early and to be so tender. So I’m slightly reassured but not fully, knowing the doctor can’t explain the tenderness. Did anyone else experience this around this time? It’s more the tenderness that I’m worried about, I can’t help thinking it’s some sort of inflammation or infection in the womb, that’s what it feels like

Hi OP, I don't want to cause concern but yes, I did have this and it ended up with me going into labour early at 21 weeks. My consultant described it as having an "irritable womb". They managed to hold off labour but then at 23 weeks when my waters burst. This on/off labour continued until 28 weeks when DS was eventually born.

I would suggest keeping a close eye.

Hopefully it is just usual tenderness as your body grows and expands.

Have you been swabbed to rule out any infections like BV, thrush etc?

Thanks @Dwadle i wasn’t swabbed but they tested my urine.

Sorry this happened to you and hoping DS is okay. how frequent we’re your BHs and we’re they constant? Did they get worse as the days went on? And were they painful?

I was getting them non stop this morning but they seemed to have calmed down a bit since about 11

@Dwadle also when you say keeping a close eye, what do you mean? Do you mean taking action if they get stronger/more frequent? How did you realise you were in early labour rather than just regular BH?

I definitely noticed mine and I recall actually tracking them with a labour app, as I was convinced it was early labour. But they did start/stop, until they didn't and stayed regularly coming.

Keeping a close eye, I mean, track them and if they become regular then do phone your midwife for advice.
