Hi, I’m 36+5 days pregnant and I’m due to have an Ecv on Friday due to baby being breech. I’m just wondering if anyone has any positive experiences as all I can see online are horror stories which is terrifying me!!!
Also how painful is the procedure?

thank you

what is an ECV? I was thinking for a second there, emergency c-section! Would be Great to learn more
Good luck with the birth of your baby...

I had one a couple of weeks ago at 35+6. It wasn't successful but I'm glad I tried it.

It was deeply uncomfortable and it did hurt but it was over very quickly. For me it was worth a go - they say it's only 50% successful and I know many people opt not to try.

You got to do what's right for yourself but for me it was only a few minutes and they told me I could stop at any point.

Good luck with whatever you decide

I had it done while they also broke my waters as I was being induced early as I had GD. It does hurt but they have me gas and air while they did it and it only took about 10 minutes.

I had it for a transverse lie so didn't have to do the full 180 turn. I didn't find it painful, a bit uncomfortable may be, and it was successful. However, DD was born with a knot in the cord, which was also wrapped around her neck at delivery and I can't help thinking that the ECV might have been the cause.

I was given no information on the procedure beforehand (was 19 years ago!!) so had no idea of the associated dangers/issues. Make sure you know what you are aware before agreeing.

I had one at 36 weeks, 4 years ago. It was uncomfortable but not painful and it worked for us. DD shifted position to head down.

At our hospital we had one consultant who did all the ECVs as there's a knack to it and it's better to have loads of practice at it. I was there for an hour afterwards to be monitored.
