Hi 🤍
has anyone managed to find something that works on this pregnancy acne.
my skin is rough, bumpy and congested. Is there anything that actually works? I’m 12wks - my dr gave me Zineryt but I’m not convinced it’s doing anything.
any suggestions would be welcomed 🥹

Sorry I don't have any suggestions but I'm 13 weeks and exactly the same! I do keep trying to drink lots of water but easier said than done due to sickness x

NSx · 14/04/2023 15:54

@Megan611 I struggle with water and I find myself eating/drinking rubbish due to sickness which I imagine doesn’t help 🥹😵‍💫 are you finding an improvement ?

That's exactly how I've been. My sickness stopped from week 8/9 and then has picked up again the last few days but definitely eating rubbish and barely drinking!x

My skin has been all over the place since becoming pregnant. It was very oily in the first 8 or 10 weeks but is now drier and I have patches of excema on my face.

Despite this I have had acne on my back since around week 6. I was hoping it would go away after the first trimester but no luck! I have been using Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant on my face and back which has massively helped with reducing blackheads and small spots, although not with the bigger cystic hormonal spots. It's safe to use in pregnancy. My face is pretty much clear right now.

My skin changes have always been hormonal so I'm accepting the fact my back won't start to heal until after I've had the baby!

Hope you find something that helps

@Megan611 its soul destroying 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 hope you’re ok! 💓💓💓

@sommeliermama do you think this would work for me? My pores are basically clogged and skin texture is like bumpy and raised from the clogged pores/blackheads 😩

Cant recommend pixi glow tonic enough! It's saved my skin and its looking fresh and dewy again. After a purge breakout from thee first couple off uses skin haas settled and cleared.

NSx · 14/04/2023 20:37

@OneMoreCookieMonster was your skin bad? I’ve used pick glow in the past but haven’t thought to use it now.
I purchased Sunday Riley good genes but only used it a couple of times so not sure if it’s efficient or not 😵‍💫

Pixi *

Awful for the first trimester, cleared up during the second and now only get the random spot here and there.

Had blackheads, patchy skin, clogged pores and had been getting clusters of spots along my hair and jawline.

I use pixi glow tonic every morning after my shower.
St Ives apricot scrub every evening
Estee lauder foaming cleanser in the morning
And moisturise with using drunk elephant serum day and night

And tie my hair back at night to keep it off my face. Seems to be working so far

I'm happy to read this as I'm 18 weeks on Sunday my skin is TERRIBLE and I had bought a new Paula's choice before I found out I was pregnant and was too scared to use it but I will tonight now I think.

sommeliermama · 15/04/2023 00:54

@NSx yes it hopefully should! I have a lot less blackheads and clogged pores now, and I've been using it for about 3 months.

sommeliermama · 15/04/2023 00:57

@RMS0209 yes salicylic acid in low doses like the Paula's Choice is fine in pregnancy! It did take a couple of months to help but there's been a big improvement

NSx · 15/04/2023 06:42

@sommeliermama at this point I’ll try anything 😂😂😂

I've suffered really badly from acne right from around 7 weeks. It got to the point literally my whole face was covered in painful red cystic spots and I was so self conscious going out even with makeup on. I booked an appointment with an online dermatologist (GetHarley) and they prescribed skinoren cream. It's 20% azelic acid which is safe to use in pregnancy. Also use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser, they recommended cerave. I noticed my skin improved almost in days although they said it could take a few weeks to see a difference. You can get it from boots or superdrug if you do an online consultation but you have to lie and say you're not pregnant or they won't give it to you, even though it is safe. I just used them for the topup when I ran out as it was cheaper but initially got it from an actual doctor. I tried so many different things and this was the only thing that helped. I'm 30 weeks now and still have the red marks but they're fading and only get the occasional spot now and not the huge cysts.

NSx · 15/04/2023 08:57

@Kelvie103 im away to Google this now. Mine isn’t huge red spots there are some, mine is mostly like blocked pores, bumps all over the face does that make sense ?

I would avoid topical drug's especially if it hasn't worked.

Try a microdermabrasion facial. It's completely safe as no chemicals used.

RMS0209 · 15/04/2023 09:13

@LittleMrsPerfect I was told to avoid all microdermabrasion x

LittleMrsPerfect · 15/04/2023 10:07

Were you given a reason as I highly doubt it’s anymore dangerous than zinyrt a topical erythromycin product that is Prescription only.

Sallyh87 · 15/04/2023 10:48

My skin was AWFUL for the first 20weeks and then cleared up and has never looked better. Sorry, not helpful but maybe some light at the end of the tunnel!

NSx · 15/04/2023 11:49

@Sallyh87 🤞🤍🤍🤍 I’m hoping it gets better but who knows 😁😂😅

OP posts:
RMS0209 · 15/04/2023 19:48

@LittleMrsPerfect no just advised against it. I did google it and got the below:-

Unsafe treatments to avoid
The following facial treatments should be avoided during pregnancy: Microdermabrasion. This may lead to irritation, breakouts, or scarring of your skin, which is more sensitive during these 9 months

But I suppose everybody's skin is different, mines is just extra sensitive at the moment so I'll try the Paula's choice for now x

NSx · 15/04/2023 21:41

I’ve ordered everything mentioned here 😂🤍🤞
