Does anyone else get pregnant SO easily?

A strange one but looking to hear similar experiences. Has anyone else have kids already yet then go on to get pregnant so so easily despite contraception? I don’t mean to offend anyone that may feel this is the complete opposite of those who have issues falling pregnant but I am just wondering if anyone has experiences of just falling pregnant whilst on birth control, safe sex, etc. I know you’re most fertile after a pregnancy/birth. I just can’t understand at times why birth control doesn’t seem to work for me. I love my babies, my kids are everything and in no way is this a complaint. I just sometimes feel that I am beyond fertile but I’m not ready to make somewhat an irreversible choice that will mean I cannot have anymore kids. Despite the surprises of being pregnant what feels like every year…

again, not a complaint! Pregnancy is a gift and I’m super grateful everything works for me but I am just wondering if my super power is being able to conceive so well or if this is normal for a lot?

I've got four kids, 1 was conceived on a one night stand and one within early days of a relationship. No contraception though. I've been sterilised the last 5 years and not fell pregnant so far and very unlikely I will.

I've never had a miscarriage either. After my last birth they took my placenta and a few womb cells to the lab with my permission, to do research on because they were looking at what the differences were that made some women miscarry and some not. I also gave urine samples throughout the pregnancy for them.

Apparently there is only a 20% chance of getting pregnant by unprotected intercourse on your most fertile day(s).

4 pregnancies and 4 live births.

  1. Took MAP correctly (although I personally think they massively overestimate how reliable it is) following condom failure
  2. Was in Deepo injection
  3. & 4. Conceived 1st cycle of trying without tracking ovulation or using any other indicators.

This was aged 25-35 so not my most or least fertile years.

Research suggests that in 12 months of trying the chances of getting pregnant are 50%.

So it's clear some many are much more fertile than others for there even to be an average.

So after pregnancies 1 & 2 I wasn't happy to rely on hormonal contraception however careful I was.

RandomMess · 12/04/2023 11:18

My periods also returned immediately despite exclusive breastfeeding 🙄

I got pregnant whilst using two forms of contraception. Chances were beyond slim.

Same
Pill taken correctly, and he didn't finish as the condom broke
I didn't get the MAP as I knew I took my pill at the same time every day, no d and v, and he hadn't finished
Pregnant

Yes. I was very very fertile. I have had 9 pregnancies in total. I've got a pill baby, a coil baby and an implant baby. Only one of my 4 kids was actually planned but all are very loved. Then 3 miscarriages ( I lost twins twice) and two very early tablet abortions .

MAP doesn't work if you've ovulated.

Can you be 'super fertile' ? Or is it just luck or failure to take proper precautions?

When there are women on this board who don't fall pregnant compared to women who have had multiple pregnancies/terminations etc.
so just fertile I would say.

AlltheFs · 12/04/2023 14:35

You need to use multiple protection - so hormone, barrier and cycle tracking simultaneously. One is not sufficient!

If you are taking hormonal contraception how are you supposed to track hormones

I got pregnant after having my tubes cut. One of them fused back together apparently.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 12/04/2023 15:12

No I tried for years to have my dd. Got pregnant and had her. Tried for another and it never happened

😆😆 My husband had a vasectomy very quickly after surprise number 4 turned up. Even though my tubes were cut again during my last c section. Definitely no more surprises here!

These stories are mind-blowing for me.
20 years of unprotected sex with partners and never pregnant!

elliejjtiny · 12/04/2023 15:33

I find that. Which is weird as we were trying for a year with our eldest. DH had a vasectomy when we decided we really really didn't want any more. 9 years later I haven't got pregnant.

RandomMess · 12/04/2023 15:33

They clipped my tubes but I've still had several times of worrying if I was pregnant especially as I've had womb ablation.

InterestingWeasel · 12/04/2023 15:41

I have had unprotected sex 5 times.
Been pregnant 3 times, have 2 children.

First pregnancy was a condom failure. We believe we used them correctly, but since we have no idea when exactly I conceived can't clarify exactly what happened. Miscarried before dates were properly confirmed.

Second pregnancy (DD1) got a positive test within a few weeks of starting trying (second cycle, but DH away for most of it!)

Third pregnancy (DD2) was a drunk decision that another child would be great which we then decided we weren't quite ready for the next day... but once was enough!

DH then had a vasectomy.

We consider ourselves lucky (or unlucky in case of the first time).

This is not very responsible. Pregnancy would be the least of your worries.

Had my implanon out and was pregnant with DC2 about 3 weeks later. I remarked to the midwife about how I thought it was amazing but she laughed and said "that's more normal than not". Implanon went straight back in when DC2 was 3 weeks old Smile

Ithurtsthebackofmyeyes · 12/04/2023 15:53

Three pregnancies (not all successful) and each one conceived one time. Not one cycle, one time.

Ithurtsthebackofmyeyes · 12/04/2023 15:54

Own time each, obvs.

Don't be so condescending. Presumably she means partners, as in people she is in a relationship with rather than casual hookups. The absolute arrogance of you telling a grown woman - who you don't know and are making assumptions about - that she is irresponsible.

MadeofCheeese · 12/04/2023 18:29

I meant actual partners not casual partners. People who already have low fertility are hardly going to want to make it worse with infections and what not 🙄

@AnneLovesGilbert I have 3 kids, this will be my 4th. I’ve had a baby every year since 2020, first 2 were lockdown babies.

What changed in 2020? If you managed not to concieve before 2020 you must have been doing something right! If was a different pill or contraceptive method go back to that one 😂
