I'd love to hear from anyone who flew at about 7 and a half weeks

I'm scared that it'll make me miscarriage, but my doctor says it's fine. Would be very reassured to hear from anyone who flew at roughly this stage of pregnancy - with positive or negative impact.
I'm only flying short-haul to Italy, probably a two hour flight.

Thank you in advance

I did a return flight to the Netherlands every two weeks from the day I conceived until I was 6 months & everything was ok.

Yes I did, but I had the devil of a job to find an airline that would take me. Olympic took me in the end.

Couldn't get insurance either. Had to rely on an E111 form.

Did lots of flying around that time. London - NY, NY - Bahamams, Bahamas - NY, NY to London, all in 10 days! Absolutely fine. As everyone has said, lots and lots of water and flight socks.

I did find that the final flight back coincided with morning sickness which wasn't fun, but also gave me the oppurtunity to stock up on about 50 sick bags. It meant that for the next month or so, I kept one in my bag in case I was sick on tube, luckily it never happened.

I flew at this stage to Greece last summer. Didn't even think about the risk and everything was fine(although not fun with morning sickness).

I haven't heard of there being a risk of miscarriage.

belgo · 17/02/2008 12:41

there's a risk of miscarriage in the early stages of all pregnancies - I've never heard of flying increasing the risk. If your doctor says it's fine, then go Jane7!

A recent study by the Miscarriage Association shows that flying decreases the risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy!

We went to Antigua when I was 6 weeks, I called our Bupa travel insurance to check that I was covered - they said no problem, called the airline (british airways) no problem (in fact spent alot of time clogging up the loos in business class as I had bad morning sickness.) They were lovely.

Enjoy

I flew to Barcelona from Edinburgh via Hamburg at 8 weeks pregnant, so two two hour flights with a wait in between. It was veery tiring, but then everything is for me at that stage in pregnancy. Everything was fine, although I did get quite swollen feet and felt really bloated, and had to keep running to the loo.

I flew to Cyprus and I was weeks, flew back at 11 weeks and everything was just fine.

As long as nothing has happened in a previous pregnancy or in this pregnancy prior to flying I'm sure everything will be just fine.

There has to be a good reason why the experts recommend us pregnant ladies not to fly only in the third trimester.

Have a wonderful time and make the most of it, before little one comes along!

i flew to spain at 8 weeks, new york at 12 weeks and brussels at 16 weeks - no problems at all other than the shame of needing the loo constantly with a window seat on the first flight . aisle seats all the way after that!

Flew to Australia at 8 weeks and returned at 12 weeks . Absolutely fine
