Sleeping pills pregnancy

Im going in for an induction on May 1st, based on last time this can take several days. I struggle to sleep in hospital at all. I have a consultant appointment coming up and I was going to ask is it possible to get prescribed sleeping pills for a few days.

Has anyone had sleeping pills in pregnancy or have any knowledge on whether this is possible?

Thanks all.

Hiya I'm no expert but have been googling this alot as I took sleeping tabs pre pregnancy regularly. I think antihistamines are OK just not in the first trimester from my fairly heavy googling. Piriton or benadryl are drowsy anti histamines/ also used as a sleep aid. They advise to take a low dose if possible so maybe 25mg rather than 50. Would advise checking with your gp though.
Hope this helps.

Thanks @Gt1986 , that is really useful. I’m going to see my obstetrics consultant ahead of the induction and like to be armed with as much information as possible!

Promethazine is in the RCOG guidelines as a treatment for hyperemesis, but is also a sleeping pill. I brought it in myself
to use in hospital when in with HG, as I was on other things from them.
