Just looking for another opinion

I went to midwife today after not feeling baby move (all fine)
I mentioned I'm anxious this time as with my 1st I got induced for reduced movements and emergency section after everything went a bit wrong.

Anyway, my midwife is a bit uhhhh cold in most ways (no convos, no pleasantries just questions then out)
And today she kept asking me "is everything OK at home" "are you OK at home" "are you safe"
I said of course I am, and I understand why they ask and for some people it's their chance to speak up. But she almost wouldn't take "everything's perfect I'm just pregnancy worried" as an answer.

Am I reading too much into this?

Thanks 😊

It's her job to check you and the baby are ok and safe.
Pregnancy is a dangerous time for women in abusive relationships and she was just checking you weren't anxious because of your home situation.

It's a good thing they ask these questions so please don't be paranoid or take offense.

Having HPs on the lookout for domestic abuse could save someone's life.

Yes you are (no offence), for some women it does taking asking 5 times to find out that mum is not OK and that it is having an impact on mental health, and subsequently, baby. Don't worry about it.

They have to ask those questions Everytime you see you - completely normal!

She was just doing her job. It's better she asks too much than not enough.. for those who need it

My midwife let me know that every time I see her and I'm alone she'll ask me those questions. If it helps just one woman who's in a difficult situation it's worth the rest of us answering a few quick questions.

I would guess that either another mum has recently confided something (or it became apparent) so she’s really on the ball, or it’s too determine if you have prenatal anxiety (needs treatment and support) or are just anxious proportionate to your experience.

Was this a community or hospital midwife?

KateC1x1 · 03/04/2023 18:11

Hey, thanks everyone. Yeah think she was just asking and I've read into something not there. It just felt odd that she was over asking in a way.

I don't feel generally anxious or worried just had a difficult 3rd trimester and birth with my 1st so a bit apprehensive that this pregnancy will go the same way.

@UpUpUpU this was the community midwife

What did she do about the reduced movements?
