Thrush in pregnancy but allergic to canesten

Hi ladies
I’m a bit concerned, I’m 9 weeks pregnant and I’ve got the start of thrush coming on but I can’t use canesten as I’m allergic to it, creams and pessarrys! I swell up like a balloon and get blisters!! Not nice.
I usually have to use other fungal creams like Daktacort but I’ve had a look and seen that I can’t use this when pregnant.
Has anyone else experienced this before and if so what did you use to get rid the thrush? … I need help asap and Drs aren’t very helpful as not seen as anything urgent…

I make my own coconut oil pessaries with a little tea tree or lavender essential oil in them. Lots of information online if you have a Google on how to make, store and use them. I store them in the freezer in a zip lock bag and pop one in at night for a few days when thrush starts to appear and that’s normally does the trick.

Hello,
I have exactly the same situation! Did you find a solution? I'm in agony. The doctor prescribed me a different kind of pessary but it isn't available anywhere so now I'm just stuck. The thrush is really bad so am reluctant to put anything there that isn't prescribed really but am interested to hear what you were prescribed or did.
Thank you!

Have your tried applying live natural yoghurt? That and airing yourself out as much as possible!

I used to find a garlic clove (peeled but careful not to cut into the flesh of it) inserted overnight did the trick but got told not to on here due to infection risk - it always worked tho, maybe eating lots of garlic would do the same thing?

Hi, ask to speak to a pharmacist theh will be able to give you the best advice to then take to a doctor x

I find showering the area with very cold water helps get rid of the itch, although it won't get rid of the infection. Sympathies - I had thrush in all my pregnancies and it's horrible!

Salt bath

Thanks everyone. I have finally managed to find a pharmacy that can get hold of the econazole for Monday which is what the doctor prescribed me but nowhere was able to source it. Hopefully that will get rid of it.

Hope it does the trick @Ozabet40 Thrush is miserable at the best of times! Congratulations on your pregnancy 💐

I had thrush throughout my whole pregnancy with my daughter, the only thing that cured it was when she was delivered. The GP and obstetrician had never seen such an awful case so you have my full sympathy as it is truly horrific.

I have seen in Boots they do pessaries that aren't clotrimazole - may this be useful for you?

I don't know if they're suitable during pregnancy though, sorry.

OP, soak a tMpax in ‘live’ yoghurt and insert,
also as popsockon suggested, salt in the bath, splash it locally, vinegar, the same.

cut down on hidden sugars and alcohol, thrush is awful and I found, hard to shift.

My unsympathetic female gp asked me did I use scented soap ‘down there’ /
wear nylon knickers, have a sugar rich diet? - just unbelievably crass response,
as though the suffering pregnant woman coming for advice/drugs would be unable to work out any could be the cause? - known in our village as ‘patient blaming’
If you are sexually active you could be passing this backwards and forwards without your husband having any symptoms, best to use protection,
even if you hear the refrain, ‘ hey, there’s nothing wrong with me ! ‘

If possible go commando, give everything an airing, best of luck

Bicarbonate Soda bath can help or apple cider vinegar in the bath.
