Hi all,

wondering if anyone can offer any words of wisdom. I have had 4 miscarriages in the past year, found out I was pregnant on Sunday just past. I managed to fight with my GP to be prescribed progesterone, which I take twice a day. I also PCOS so this is why I made such a fight for the progesterone. Having done so much reading on mumsnet, I also bought aspirin 75mg and loads of vitamins and started these too.

I do not know how I will cope mentally with another loss, really I am just looking for anyone who can offer any advice, has been through similar and has any happy stories. I am a big ball of anxiety right now, dreading going to the loo and just praying.

Xo

Hi - positive story here!

I had several losses before seeing a specialist who put me on progesterone suppositories. My baby is turning 12 this summer and is perfectly healthy, spends most of his days either gaming or winding his siblings up (7 and 4).

Fingers crossed everything goes well for you too!

@Prayingfrmyrainbow I had 3 miscarriages prior to my current pregnancy. I'm currently 39 weeks and believe this is largely down to progesterone. I tried quite a lot of things so I can't be sure but progesterone was the major difference. Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope all goes well for you x

Another positive story here - currently 38w and I took progesterone twice a day too. My GP would only prescribe 12w worth although the guidelines are to take until 16w, so I sort of weaned myself off them gradually after my 12w scan by dropping to 1 a day for a few days, then 1 every other day etc, up to a little over 14w. I was so nervous and anxious when I came off them completely, I felt they were my reassurance and safety net so he prepared for that, the anxiety never leaves after you've been through losses.
I started taking the progesterone after the start of yet another spotting/light bleed early on, just before 4w I think it was - as soon as I started taking the progesterone that all stopped same day and it was smooth from there to date. It was the only thing I did different to my previous pregnancies that ended in spontaneous MC so I'm totally convinced it was my pregnancy saviour this time.
Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations!

*GP would only prescribe enough to be taken up to 12w pregnant

Thank you so much for your repossess, definitely made me feel better to read ! I have been researching 24/7. GP was very reluctant at first Infact, I have to give evidence and direct him to sites that I researched to get him to agree ! He prescribed two weeks worth and said we will see how this goes and have further decision. I am think surly he can’t stop them after two weeks though ? I am so glad this worked out for yous, happy to hear yous ended with your little bundle of joy !

it’s just so sad, you see people get pregnant and be nothing but excited, I don’t know if I will feel that ever during a pregnancy ! However I am holding onto hope. Thank yous ever so much for responding, you’s have gave a very anxious pregnant emotional women .. some hope 🙏🏻 xo

Another positive story here!

I am typing this with one hand whilst also breast feeding our two week old miracle rainbow baby girl! She is well worth waiting for! After five miscarriages and one failed round of IVF I began my seventh pregnancy last June (also have a son) I took progesterone suppositories and continued with then (and prednisone) from ovulation until 12 weeks. Pregnancy vitamins and vitamin D throughout. We had a LOT of scans plus the NIPT bloodwork during the pregnancy . The anxiety was intense and constant throughout. I was constantly waiting for something to go wrong. However the pregnancy and birth were otherwise smooth and full of joy and hope.

all the best!

ps. FYI the progesterone suppositories can cause spotting which is VERY stressful and every time it happened I would expect the worst

@NutsandPuffs congratulations on your baby girl 🤍 .. also so sorry for your losses, I know how tough that can be. I am just praying this is all worth it, so far haven’t had any spotting but thank you for that ! As I am sure I would panic if I seen that. Thank you for your response, so comforting to read other people’s success stories. Just need to take a day at a time and keeping praying
