19 Weeks, No Bump, Worry?

Hi everyone. I'm a first time Mum so naturally worried a lot. I'm now in my 19th week and still have no bump to show for it? Everyone comments on how I don't have one and all the apps say I should be feeling movement flutters at this stage, which I don't. I'm just wondering, is it normal to not be showing or feeling anything yet or should I worry that my baby is either not Ok or not growing enough? Thank you.

In my first pregnancy I didn't have a bump until 20 weeks, one day I woke up and it had just "popped" out. As for movements, if you haven't felt any yet it could be just because of where your placenta is lying, but it's still quite early, especially in a first pregnancy when you don't know what you're looking to feel. Midwives don't ask you to monitor movements until later on, so I wouldn't worry just yet if everything has been OK up until now.

Hey 👋🏼 firstly congratulations in your pregnancy 😊 Secondly try not to worry too much as because it's your first pregnancy you usually show later than a woman who is on her 2nd or more pregnancy as the muscles have already been through that change. It can also depend on which way your uterus tilts, it may be that yours tilts towards the back so you wouldn't show as early as a woman who's tilts towards the front. As for the movements you may have felt what you thought were trapped wind but not necessarily put it down to baby moving. The placenta can have an effect on feeling movements too. But remember if you are worried just get in touch with your midwife they will be more than happy to reassure you 😊

Nothing to worry about! I had my 16 week midwife appointment when I was 19 weeks and asked the same question to my midwife. She said exactly the same as the previous posters, that especially for the first baby it can take a while to show depending on your own anatomy, shape of uterus, strength of abs etc. I had just started feeling flutters (very occasionally) but she said it was normal not to at that 19 week mark.
To reassure you, I’m 22 weeks now and the last week had been a big week of growth! I’ve definitely popped now, and am down to fitting in to my last few pairs of my stretchiest jeans and have ordered some maternity jeans now too. Baby is also kicking away a lot more than 3 weeks ago, so it’s impossible to miss now!

Everyones different, but I’m sure between now at week 25 you’ll start noticing changes. Good luck with the rest of this crazy journey!

I honestly wouldn't worry. I'm a secondary school teacher and made it to 20 weeks without any of the children realising mainly because I didn't have much bump. I had to change my trousers before this to allow a little more stretch but still had the same tops on!

No bump until 20 weeks either for me - there's a pic of me on holiday at 18 weeks in a bikini and you wouldn't think I was pregnant.
My midwife said they wouldn't be worried about not feeling movement until 24 weeks as it's so dependant on placenta and baby's positioning.
All the best!
