Do you need to do multiple tests, I’m so confused

I’m new to TTC (though late in life - long story) and very confused about this. Absolutely not a dig at anyone, I just don’t think I understand and am worried I’m missing something. Do you need to do multiple tests after a BFP? If so why? Thank you!

No you don’t. Sometimes women who have tested very early and have faint positives like to do tests over a few days to see the lines get darker as the level of the hormone you test for increases.
But a positive test is a positive test and you don’t need to test again at all, just sort out antenatal appointments and have any bleeding checked out (in case of miscarriage).

No, you absolutely don't need to. Some people, especially those who have faced fertility challenges or pregnancy loss, find it gives a small measure of reassurance to keep testing; others find it quite hard to get their heads around being pregnant and do multiple tests to really really really confirm it! (For those who've faced pregnancy loss - and I include myself in this - seeing a 'progression' in how dark the test line is can be quite compelling but home pregnancy tests aren't really designed to be used in this way and it can be as stressful as it is reassuring. In that situation, having blood tests to actually measure HCG levels gives much more useful information. I dread to think how much I lined the pockets of First Response over the years...)

Once you have a positive test, you have a positive test, and there's no real need to do more.

Thanks both!

you definitely don’t, I didn’t with my first two. I did multiple with my third as I had them in and I found out early but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Mine actually got lighter for a bit which caused more stress, everything is fine though.

No you don’t, unless you want to be more stressed out. I got a really bold positive for my first new tests but I saw people on mumsnet advising to take tests nearly daily. I got so stressed out for no reason so stopped.

Just use a digital and then there's no ambiguity.

Definitely not. 3 pregnancies and the only time I did a second test was the first one. My cycles were all over the place so I had no idea how pregnant I was so did a clear blue weeks one after my initial positive. Good thing I did as I thought it would be 1-2 weeks but came up 3+ and I turned out to be 10 weeks so had a rush to get my 12 week scan booked

I'm really glad you asked this. I was wondering the same. I'm quite a ruminator so I think it wouldn't reassure me. But I can see how it helps others.
