Pregnant and ovary cyst

I’m 6 weeks 4 days had some slight sharp pain on right side but only last a second then goes (normal the time infrequent) however I contacted my early pregnancy clinic told them about it and to double check they asked me to come in for a scan.

baby is fine heart beating and bang on time 6 weeks 4 days. But the person doing the ultrasound mentioned I had a medium size cyst on my right ovary and that would explain the twinges I have felt occasionally. It’s nothing to do with the pregnancy. The early pregnancy unit told me just mention it at my 12 week scan and she told me to get back dressed and left the room there was not really any explanation to this other than when she was scanning saying sometimes this happens after ovulation etc. my main concerns can it affect the pregnancy and with her saying medium size it must be a fair size not a tiny cyst. Just wondering if anyone been in this situation or any knowledge on this? Thanks x

This happened to me early on too, I had sharp pains from week 4 but it was too early to scan and then a cyst was picked up on an 8 week scan. By my 12 week scan it was gone. I think it's normal x

Hi OP, I have a large dermoid ovarian cyst that measures 10cm. I was given a MRI at 10 weeks after it was discovered at an early ultrasound (not related to the cyst).

it hasn’t bothered me at all I can’t even say I’ve had any twinges really and they believe it’s been there for quite some time.

I am being monitored very regularly due to placenta accreta, the cyst wasn’t even visible at my last ultrasound due to the size of baby and uterus now. Plan is to remove the cyst during my surgery to deliver baby which is likely to be a C hysterectomy due to the previa. They will try and keep the ovary so I don’t go into early menopause but I do still have my other ovary which is fine.

Have been told if I have any pain around the side of the cyst to go straight in as it may twist but so far it hasn’t bothered me at all.

Hope yours is hormone triggered, it should shrink if so

@SarahHewitt

Hi Sarah , I just want to say I was in the same position I found out I had a cyst on my right ovary and mine is massive
Mine is 8CM - I've been referred to gynaecologist. I was getting pains and sharp pains too but they couldn't see anything at my appointment only a sac at 5 weeks pregnant . Are they going to monitor you with extra scans ? As they told me they would
Do extra scans xx

I had my scan (I’m 14 weeks) and the cyst has now gone. Extra scans would have been given if it was still there though. Just wanted to let others know that they do disappear if it’s caused by corpus lethuem x

Fingers crossed mine goes down , or disappeared I've got a scan today . This one has caused me pain . I was told by gynaecologists they would scan me at 12 weeks & 20 weeks and then go from there but today is the one they need to check on as my cyst can cause a miscarriage and my one is keeping baby alive my gynaecologist said to me xx
