Really Bad Haemorrhoids

As the title says really. I’m 27 weeks. Submitted an online consult for the doctor and have an appointment Thursday afternoon. The pain/discomfort is making me cry (although hormones are probably also to blame there). Looking for advice on making it through to Thursday I suppose. Also dreading the doctor poking around, which I know should be the least of my worries.

Have you tried sitting on an ice pack I found that helped. I've you haven't already tried it the over the counter cream also really helped me. It can be so painful x

I'm in the same boat, OP. Losing a large amount of blood every day as they're so bad. It's not ok. I keep being told there's nothing that can be done but there must be!

Scheriproct gel has really helped. Best thing for me is not walking or sitting too much. Equal amounts of both.

Chunkymonkey123 · 27/03/2023 15:43

Scheriproct gel is what you need, and if that doesn’t work then you get get a stronger drug that’s a pessary. Just keep going to the GP. I had thrombosed haemorrhoids in my pregnancy and it was awful. I couldn’t get out of bed at the end. Instantly gone once the baby was born.

Get the cream and the suppositories and use both.
Take paracetamol.
Shower and rinse the area thoroughly after opening your bowels.
Drink loads of water and plenty of fibre.
Stay standing as much as possible after opening bowels and keep exercising if you can - even a gentle walk helps.

I know your pain....

Onebabyandamadcat · 27/03/2023 15:48

Oh OP I feel for you! I had horrible piles at 36 weeks two months ago - the week I was to go and be induced. The pain was horrendous! I learned that not all over the counter piles stuff is created equally. Abosel (?) Is rubbish - you want germoloid. Get the cream and suppositories. The suppositories are what really helped me. The Dr prescribed an ointment and suppositories starting with an s that cleared mine up in time for induction. I hope you get some relief soon

Thanks everyone. I suppose it’s good to know I am not alone. My midwife said I shouldn’t use any creams/treatments unless the GP prescribes/recommends them so I think I am stuck until Thursday. I am also absolutely terrified of using suppositories. I have no idea how I’d get one up there, especially with the current pain and obstruction.

Mine are also too bad for suppositories. I have asked for an ELCS as my recovery with several large ruptured piles after having my son was horrendous. 3 months of not being able to sit down properly - I'm quite willing to swap that for (hopefully) 3-4 weeks of pain.

Try Coconut oil? I lathered it on thickly when pregnant with piles and it really did seem to help. Also baths with a good glug of apple cider vinegar....either might be worth a try given the pain you are in.

So I drank a tonne of prune juice and had an Epsom salt bath followed by a cold compress and I feel so much better. I practically had a panic attack thinking about my next bowel movement but it was absolutely fine! Making it to Thursday seems a lot more manageable now.
