Tommy’s say to call a doctor, how urgent is it?

I’m 9 weeks pregnant and started feeling awful this evening: chills, aches and a temperature.

Temp is 37.9. When I Googled, Tommys.org says ‘If your temperature is above 37.5 degrees Celsius, even with no other flu or cold symptoms, call your doctor or hospital maternity unit.’

How serious is this? How urgent do I need to be? It’s the middle of the night and the weekend so contacting the GP wouldn’t be until Monday. I assume this isn’t an A&E job. I tried 111 online and it wasn’t very helpful. I’m shattered, do I try to sleep or do I sit up on the phone to 111?

I know that it is impossible not to worry. My pregnancies were both ivf. My last one was a nightmare with illness. I had norovirus and covid, along with hyperemesis gravidarum. I was convinced my baby could not be ok.

The covid really hit me. I had a really high temp etc. It was all grand though. I was monitored more frequently than usual. I had extra growth scans and saw a consultant a few times. It was all worrying, but totally fine. The concern was that my baby would be small, but she was 8lbs 8oz. Chunkier than my last baby!

Try not to worry! I hope everything goes well.
