Does anyone else worry about covid?

I had my previous 2 babies before covid was a thing. I don’t know if because it was such a massive deal at the time it’s given me a complex but I’m scared of it.

I’ve had 2 covid jabs and a booster but over a year ago.

does anyone else worry about it or is it not really a big deal for pregnant women? Online info is confusing x

If you're pregnant you can get another booster! Details on NHS website or I just popped into a pharmacy for mine.

Theirmumxx · 23/03/2023 18:53

the boosters are seasonal apparently and not available now til the winter x x

I was the same OP, & as I've had the 3 jabs (over a year ago) that was it, nothing else offered, which I said didn't make sense as we are still told the immunity from each jab only lasts 3-6 months...

Theirmumxx · 23/03/2023 19:11

I’m taking comfort from the fact that my midwife has never mentioned the vaccine or booster?? Surely she would if it was so dangerous? Xx

Yeah I think if they thought the risk was high they would offer the booster now not just seasonally. Try to take regular precautions and if you do get COVID call the midwife

Hello OP,

Just wanted to let you know that I am unvaccinated, got COVID (omicron) at 40 weeks, gave birth with it. Totally fine, not even the worse cold I've had. That is anecdotal of course but just wanted to give you a positive message. It's not all gloom and doom x

Nik44 · 23/03/2023 20:21

When I went for my 12 week scan they asked me if I was going to have a booster. I told them about my worries having it due to a loss when I had covid and the vaccine a few weeks prior. She told me it is still very dangerous for mother and baby if you catch covid after 28 weeks so I should wait until after my 20 week scan for peace of mind and then when I see all is ok with baby have the booster. So from that info I don’t think it’s seasonal, and it is strongly recommended.

Bananabreakfast123 · 23/03/2023 22:05

Currently 34 weeks pregnant and was looking to book a booster the other day. They're still available to book online with virtually immediate availability so doesn't seem to be seasonal.

Sali83 · 23/03/2023 22:53

Couldn't book a booster online, on 119, via midwife or with GP. Apparently only first and second jabs now available. Boosters for pregnant women look like ended in February. NHS guidance not updated. Still recommends you have one. Spring boosters start in April but doesn't look like will include pregnant women. Very confusing!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 23/03/2023 22:56

6 of one, half a dozen of the other....

Realistically if you got covid now chances are overwhelmingly in your favour that all would be absolutely fine.

UnicornRainbowSky · 24/03/2023 15:48

I was booked for my second booster in December but then caught Covid a few days before the appointment so wasn't able to get it done. I called my midwife at the time and she just said to be vigilant and if I feel really unwell to ring them or 111. I only had a mild cold though and tested negative again after only 4 days. I'm now 29 weeks along and all looking good for both me and baby. So I'd say try not to worry and if you do catch it, take it easy, look after yourself and get advice from a healthcare professional. X

BridieConvert · 24/03/2023 16:35

I got covid when I was around 32 weeks. I'm also fully vaccinated. It was fine, just felt like a bad cold. Baby is 6 months now and perfectly healthy :)

Kathryn91 · 24/03/2023 16:37

I had covid when I was about 18weeks preg to, I just felt very tired with a very sore throat! Baby 7weeks now and all fine x

VictoriaBlossom · 25/03/2023 09:07

@breakfastbagel stay clean. I feel like I'm the only person pregnant who's not been jabbed recently

VictoriaBlossom · 25/03/2023 09:10

@Theirmumxx I don't think covid is what it was 3 years ago, a virus will mutate to be the most contagious rather the most damaging. If a virus killed its host the virus would be no more, covids mutated thousands of times now and it's a bit of a cold. I think I caught it a few weeks ago, early pregnancy.

J1290 · 25/03/2023 18:53

I didnt have the oregnant extra jab in november... and iv just had covid
it was just a cold.. im 37 weeks pregnant
head cold snot and feel abit rubbish
wuld have felt loads better im sure if i culd take more than paracetamol??
so not overly worried really?
everyones different but i wouldnt have guessed covid if i hadnt tested

Absc · 25/03/2023 19:00

My Nhs trust still takes it seriously from 28 weeks I cannot do any face to face work due to risks.

I caught covid at 13 weeks pregnant and spent three weeks in hospital very unwell and I’ve had vaccines / boosters etc.

Emilyanna · 25/03/2023 19:04

If it helps, I also had COVID while preg (before vaccine was available) and it was barely noticeable. I don't have any other risk factors though, and a pretty awesome immune system in general. So I'm not worried about getting covid again this pregnancy. But if I had a poor immune system or was really overweight or other risk factor, then yes, I'd be a bit more cautious while pregnant. I'd probably avoid large indoor gatherings for example (assuming other household members could do the same). But I wouldn't go crazy and sacrifice my mental and physical health by becoming a hermit! It's all about balance.

SillyOldBear3 · 25/03/2023 20:47

I'm unvaccinated, had Covid last year with mild symptoms. I wouldn't stress about it, my midwife hasn't even mentioned it to me.
