Fundal height vs growth scan - is scan more accurate?

Had two very different measurements based on fundal height measure with tape vs growth scan (fundal measuring consistently as huge, whereas the private scan at 30 weeks was showing 50th percentile).

Is my assumption correct that the scan is likely to be more accurate? I understand that neither will be spot on.

Just wondering whether to book a private growth scan as a wee bit scared by prospect of large baby! Or is that something midwife would suggest nearer the time anyway? Thanks.

So I had a similar issue. At 32 weeks MW measured and said baby would be very big for me maybe 9lbs (I am fairly small). Went for growth scan and they said all fine baby 50th centile.

At 38 weeks a different MW measured me and said baby hadn't grown since 32 weeks!! Scared the life out of me. Scan said baby was fine but was now on the 25th centile but had definitely grown.

In the end baby was born 40+2 at 6lbs 1oz.

Honestly have no faith in the measurements with a tape. It also didn't help 3 different midwives measured me but each time it caused a lot of unnecessary worry x

A scan is more accurate because they are just measuring the baby, whereas with a tape measure they are measuring bump, baby placenta and a whole lot of fluids!
