Hi all,

I recently found out I was pregnant and 8dpo and am currently 10dpo! My pregnancy tests are the strongest they have ever been despite having positive pregnancy tests after a missed period.

My last 2 pregnancies ended in chemical miscarriages. I am obviously very nervous this pregnancy and want it to be successful. I have been taking multi vitamins, folic acid and 75mg of aspirin before I got a positive.

Tomorrow, I am going to contact my GP and EPU regarding progesterone etc. I am currently awaiting an appointment to the recurrent miscarriage clinic from my last two losses.

I wondered what other peoples experiences were for those that have been in a similar position. Did you GP prescribe progesterone? I was looking on the NICE guidelines and it mentioned how the pregnancy has to be confirmed via heartbeat on a scan but I am far too early for that...

It'd be great to hear other stories.

Thank you x

I had progesterone before getting the bfp due to it being IVF, and had it all the way to 12 weeks as support for the pregnancy. I'd not had a MC or been pregnant before so not sure about the rule of seeing a heartbeat, push hard with GP to get some support as you're already referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, seems a shame to wait when you have your bfp! Congratulations on a lovely strong one :) I've found advocating for yourself with medical professionals really helps as you know your experience and body best!

Thanks so much @Imisscoffee2021 that's really helpful to know regarding heartbeat! Going to give this a good go tomorrow I'm trying getting some progesterone!
Good luck in your journey ✨❤️

Hi

I had 3 miscarriages in a row. For this pregnancy once I had my pregnancy confirmed as intrauterine (at 4weeks) by the EPU I was prescribed 400mg progesterone twice daily until 7weeks. They then scanned me again at 7weeks to confirm heartbeat before continuing to issue progesterone until 16weeks. These are the current NICE guidelines for treatment of recurrent miscarriage .

At four weeks they just needed to check it wasn’t tubal before starting progesterone. On the scan we could only see a tiny sac and no heartbeat as obviously too early. I started Aspirin myself once I had my BFP. I am now 30weeks. Good luck and definitely push for the progesterone now.

Thanks so much @Mamofboyd this is really helpful!! Did you refer yourself to EPU or did your GP do this?

Also, did they check the pregnancy at 4 weeks via transvaginal scan?

Congrats on your rainbow, you have given me so much hope 🌈❤️

Thank you so much. I also searched for similar stories during the early days to give me hope as well. Sometimes all we need is just a wee bit of extra support to carry us through a pregnancy. I really believe this is why we have gotten so far. Although I don’t think I’ll ever fully relax until baby is safely here 🙈

I self referred to the EPU. I was treated there for my miscarriages so they knew me quite well by this stage. They then issued a letter for me to bring to my GP for prescribing. I initially did try my GP however they wouldn’t prescribe without confirmation of intrauterine pregnancy so I called the EPU. Yes- all my scans up to 12weeks were transvaginal 😬I was also scanned every two weeks in the EPU which was fantastic and helped reassure me during the first trimester.

I completely understand how you are feeling - just take it one day at a time. At least with the aspirin and progesterone you feel like you are actively doing whatever you can. I also took 5mg folic acid and high dose vitamin d x

You are so right! I really appreciate your advice and help, it can be hard to find out about this kind of situation on Google!

Completely get what you mean by not being able to relax until your baby is here, it's horrible how the feelings from a first pregnancy is taken away after a loss.

Going to ring my EPU first thing tomorrow, hopefully I will have a similar experience to you!

Thanks for all your help hun and wishing you all the luck in the world with your little one xx

@Patpop Hiya!
I had 2 chemicals/early losses before this pregnancy. I was referred to EPAU after some spotting at 4 ish weeks, they told me to contact them just before 6 weeks and they would scan me. I bought some progesterone cream online and used this until they'd scan me as no one would give me progesterone & I was desperate.
I'm not suggesting you do this - I'm just being honest.
I take 75mg asprin, I can't remember if I started before I knew I was pregnant or when I found out - but it was pretty early on. EPAU did a scan at 6 weeks and saw a baby with a heartbeat and prescribed progesterone up until 16 weeks, I'm now 11 weeks 4 days. My husband is convinced it's the aspirin that made the difference, I wonder if it was using the progesterone cream and aspirin in the early days to promote blood flow to my uterus and keep my progesterone levels us, ultimately we will never know.
My midwife knows I'm on the aspirin and has no concerns but says because I have no risk factors for pre eclampsia etc it's technically 'not needed', but if things are working carry on.
Hope this helps, I searched for weeks trying to find answers xx

Hi @TealDreams

Thanks so much for your response. I contacted the EPU and they pretty much said the same as you! I have to wait to have a scan and then they will give it me. I'm just holding on to hope that I don't have another early loss.

Thanks for the advice regarding the cream, I'm going to get some today! Where did you get yours from and what brand was it? I've also been taking 75mg of aspirin I want to feel like I'm doing everything I can.

Thank you for giving me hope. Wishing you all the best with your little rainbow 🌈❤️

@Patpop
I had the now progesterone cream, and used that up until BFP, but then read it did contain a derivative of Vit A in it so got concerned and swapped to SM nutrition progesto-life as I looked into the ingredients and these seemed better. Again, I'm not a doctor so can't guarantee it's safe, but it's what I did! Best of luck to you xx
