I am 23 wks pg, second baby, and am feeling constantly under the weather. The first 3 months I was constantly nauseous, to the extent that I couldn't work for most of the time. I had just started getting over that when I got a cold in January which lasted for 2 weeks. I had just got over that when I got the flu from my dd. That is now finally subsiding but I still feel completely carp.
I am breathless all the time, I feel dizzy and mildly nauseous regularly, all my joints and muscles ache, I have trouble sleeping and am generally exhausted.
Is this just par for the course? I don't remember feeling this bad first time round, but then I may just have forgotten about it. I know lots of other mums who seem to have sailed through this - should I just shut up whinging and get on with it? Is this normal?

I was pretty much the same, first pregnancy sailed through with out a hitch, second one was a bit nightmare-ish.

Have you had your iron levels checked recently? IF not I'd suggest getting them done, other than that I think it is just a case of getting on with it I'm afraid.

I'm 5 weeks behind you with my first. 14 weeks of nausea with a cold thrown in. Post nasal drip feeding mucous into my belly (eeeuugghh) Blocked ears and to top it all off, the squits and a water infection with lower back pain. My cousin, no symptoms whatsoever. Some of us just get it, some of us don't. Feel free to whinge... I've hated being pregnant and if anyone else tells me I should enjoy it, I'm likely to hoof them squarely up the arse. At least we'll get a lovely baby at the end eh?

Jood I'm 19 weeks and feel like crap (or even carp- much funnier ) too. Same disappearance of immune system here as well. I am the last of my group of "mum" friends to have my second baby- I had conveniently not heard them all say how much they disliked being pg the second time round in comparison with their first pregnancy (and not all of us enjoyed being pg the first time!)

Think we are al tireder and wiser, there are no rose tinted specs this time round. I feel a bit bad that its just not as emotionally all-encompassing the second time, but can't wait to hold my baby and snuggle up to its soft little head.

We might still bloom yet though, don't give up! Maybe we need to be a bit kinder to ourselves. Cue chocolate, magazines and a dp to cook dinner at least on thursday

Not just me then!

I think the lack of emotional overwhelm definitely contributes, I feel a bit dissociated from the process this time round. I am trying to focus on thoughts of this little warm fuzzy creature I get to hold at the end, but all I can think of is no sleep for 6 months plus afterwards!

and no chance of getting dinner cooked unless dh miraculously remembers where the kitchen is for the first time!

but am due to get iron levels checked next week so will see if that is a factor.
