I had the mirena coil removed in Oct 22. Got pregnant in the first cycle but sadly had a mmc in Jan 23. My periods are back now. I was recommended to try to conceive naturally for 6 months because my cycle has come back to normal within the month both times (removing coil and mmc). But we would like 2 children and I'm aged 39. I'm concerned that we'll struggle to have our second baby in a couple of years, me aged 41 or 42 even if I get lucky to get pregnant and have our first baby fairly easily. I had an idea that we could go for IVF privately for the first as well ASAP to save precious time and freeze some embryos/eggs now to do a transfer for the second baby later. We won't qualify for NHS funding but cost isn't a factor. Wwyd please?

Came off the pill a year before trying to get hormones in a good way. Then 3 years of trying and we have only had our first positive with ivf. I am 34 and diagnosed with unexplained infertility with the clinic constantly telling me that they didn't expect me back. If I could go back in time I would go for ivf privately. We've had to try for 2 years to get on the ivf waitlist and then we were another 6m until we started and I have a feeling this pregnancy might end up being a chemical due to my lines not progressing much in the last 4 days but 🤷🏼‍♀️. I would go for private and just have it as a back up at the very least. It is very costly but what isn't these days. If its something you really want then go for it.

It might also be a good idea (no judgement!) to maybe have different expectations too. I wanted 3 kids by this time and now I cry wondering if I will ever get pregnant and stay pregnant. It's a horrible journey and ivf is not easy but if you don't have age on your side I'd go for it.

Thanks for sharing your information Fox. Your advice is reassuring.

That's what I worry that it may be a long journey and who knows when/if it will happen naturally or not.
