Baby Aspirin Advice and Success Stories Please?!
3xLL · 17/03/2023 11:32
Hello
After two consecutive miscarriages, I think I will try Low dosage aspirin next time as I've heard it mentioned a couple of times... but I need some advice from any of you that have had success with it!
What's the difference between Low dose aspirin and baby aspirin, or are they the same thing? What dose did people take? From when do you start taking it? From 1dpo or BFP? How long did you take it for?
And for anyone in the UK which brand did you buy?

Hello, so sorry for your losses, I hope you are doing as well as can be expected.
I had a MMC at around 10.5 weeks, discovered at 12w in Dec 2021.
I spent 9 months going insane, and finally spoke to a specialist on the NHS in August. She advised 75mg from ovulation based on my history (1 loss, PCOS and subclinical hypothyroidism). I actually was pregnant that cycle, so whether it was the aspirin or not, I'll never know, but it can't hurt to take the low dose!
I just used any own brand aspirin (sainos, superdrug, Tesco etc) and took it until about 16 weeks, I'm 30w now. When I spoke to the obstetrician in my second trimester she said 75mg was actually too low to be any use post 12w and they recommend 150mg to help stop preeclampsia, but I didn't want to keep taking it as my placenta is covering my cervix and can cause bleeding and aspirin is a blood thinner, so I decided to park it. All personal choices.
Obviously i'll caveat I am not a doctor and you should ask for a referral based on your losses anyway. I only had one MC but I begged my GP to refer me because I was 34 (now 35) and they did, so it's definitely worth asking.
Wishing you all the luck x

Hiya! So sorry for your loss. I had 2 MC too, this time I started 75mg asprin that I bought from boots. 1 a day in evening before bed and I'm now 11 weeks pregnant❤️ my midwife knows I take it and said there is no harm but I'm not any risk factor for preeclampsia (what they normally give aspirin for) so in their eyes 'not needed'. I am convinced this is why I am still pregnant! I also have cyclogest, but I was further along than I ever made it before they prescribed cyclogest. I can't remember exactly when I started but think I started from about 5 dpo because I just had a feeling I was pregnant! Best of luck ❤️

Obviously I'm not a doctor so please do your own research. I think it's supposed to improve blood flow to the uterus/placenta. X

I had multiple consecutive miscarriages and decided to take aspirin after I'd done some research. As soon as I got my bfp I started taking 150mg of generic dispersible aspirin every evening, along with progesterone prescribed by my EPU. Consequently, I was told that my blood clots ever so slightly more quickly than normal when I went for RMC tests (note: I don't have a blood clotting disorder). I'm now 27 weeks and have been told to take the progesterone until 34 weeks and the aspirin until 36.

@Tucanparadise interesting that you've been told to take progesterone for that long. I've been told until 16 weeks. Do you have the pessaries? Xx
Tucanparadise · 18/03/2023 19:31
@TealDreams I was initially told until 16 weeks but have had a few bleeds throughout the pregnancy and told to remain on it. In all honesty I'm glad, it's become like a crutch to me. I think I'd panic if I was told to come off it. And yes, pessaries twice a day xx

@MO22
Sorry to hear you went through the same it’s the most horrible thing.
Amazing to hear you’re at 30 weeks now, not long to go for you! I had thought I’ll start taking it from ovulation then speak to my midwife about it at our first appointment with her.
Thank you so much for the reply and all the best lovely :)

@TealDreams
Hi lovely,
thanks you for the reply. Sorry to hear you’ve been through that as well. Lovely to hear it’s working for you and you’ve got to 11 weeks that’s so positive :)
Yeah that’s my plan to tell my midwife when we hopefully get to the first appointment with her and see what she says!
All the best with your rainbow baby!
