What vitamins are everyone taking? I’ve just started taking the Biocare Methyl Pregnancy Multinutrient and was unsure whether I need to be also taking anything else with it? I’m trying to eat lots of food with folic acid in too!

@MamaAl27 hello - I take vit d, methylfolate and vit c. I take omega3 when i havent had enough fish and will start collagen later in the pregnancy. not heard of the ones you're taking, were they recommended?

Twoinapod · 15/03/2023 16:00

I took pregnacare with my first two, taking proceive this time and the proceive omega. As a minimum you need to be having folic acid and vitamin D. Methyl folate is better as it absorbs easier and iron is always good to take as your body has extra blood flow, vitamin C helps the iron be absorbed better and b vitamins can help with tiredness

breakfastbagel · 15/03/2023 16:26

I take those too! I like them as they have choline in.

For pregnancy I also take 400mg magnesium, a high dose omega 3 and will keep taking vitamin D until the end of winter. After that I just make sure I get lots of sun. I also take electrolytes when I remember!

MamaAl27 · 15/03/2023 16:41

They were recommended by a midwife friend of mine as she is very wary of pregnacare. I take omega 3 and probiotics too, was just unsure whether I would be getting enough folic acid from the supplements I take currently.

Oh brill! I take omega 3 and probiotics too, was just unsure whether I would be getting enough folic acid from the supplements! Or whether I just need to start upping my veg game 😂

@MamaAl27 May I ask what probiotic you take? I'd like to start them too thanks!

MamaAl27 · 15/03/2023 20:43

I take the optibac ones! @NatGee does anyone know if I need to take supplements for folic acid? Or will those 3 be ok?

NatGee · 15/03/2023 20:55

@MamaAl27 Thank you so much. I believe the recommended daily dosage is 400mcg of folate so if your multivitamin contains that you should be covered

MamaAl27 · 15/03/2023 20:59

@NatGee you are welcome ☺️ ok thank you! I was getting myself in bit of a tizz thinking I need to get some supplements for folic acid too!

Do you mind me asking why the wariness about pregnacare?

MamaAl27 · 16/03/2023 12:38

@Cherrybaby1 do you have Instagram? Follow a nutritionist called Sophia Hill which will go into a better explanation than what I can do ☺️

@MamaAl27 the ingredient that scares me the most in pregnacare is talc. Eating talc? it's not even safe on skin. really scary

@breakfastbagel what vitamin d tablets do you take?

At the moment taking an athletic greens one, but as long as it's a sublingual one with K2 then it's all the same.

MamaAl27 · 16/03/2023 16:04

@breakfastbagel could you possibly send me a link please? ☺️

@NatGee absolutely, it’s shocking what they put in there! These are what my multinutrients have in them.

@breakfastbagel and you don’t take anything extra for the folic acid aspect? Just so I know I’m doing this right 😂

I just take the biocare and eat a varied diet. I like making my own chicken liver pate as that has lots of b12 and folate, I have that once a week.

Here's a link to vitamin d: www.nutravita.co.uk/products/vitamin-d3-1000iu-and-k2-mk7-drops-2-000-vegetarian-drops-per-bottle

I'm coeliac so on quite a range, including a very large dose of folic acid. Need to get iron rechecked again soon

Shona11 · 22/12/2023 11:52

Can anyone recommend a chewable pregnancy vitamin I can take? I have tried a couple but they are all HUGE and I struggle to swallow half a paracetamol!

MoonIightDreamer · 22/12/2023 15:19

I alternate multivitamin between proceive and wild nutrition. I then take omega, I take either proceive or bare biology.
I also take optibac Probiotic

MoonIightDreamer · 22/12/2023 15:21
