Nappy help!

Hi everyone, it's my first pregnancy, and I'm wondering what nappies are the best. I've seen people rave about aldi, but being 85p for newborn nappies, just seems too cheap to be able to keep a baby dry and no poop explosions!
Help, I'm totally lost!

The Aldi ones really are good! I think they price them low because you get through so many, and because it means you end up inevitably buying loads more when you are in there. I impulse bought so many breastfeeding snacks when we went in to get nappies.

I found once baby was in size 2/3s that the Aldi ones were not as good and switched to Tesco.

BabyB2022 · 14/03/2023 23:41

I have always liked aldi, I also like sainsburys.

Twoinapod · 15/03/2023 04:57

Aldi premium were definitely the best, then we moved on to Tesco own brand. Sainsburys own brand were good too if we couldn’t get Tesco. Pampers were absolutely the worst for both of mine. Always leaked.

best baby wipes were either Aldi or Superdrug own.

Aldi are the best nappies and stay dry don’t get pampers yuck horrible and always wet gave my baby rush

Dinosaurpoopy · 15/03/2023 19:53

I prefer pampers but we don't have an aldi near us so have never tried those! Hated tesco own though- it's trial and error really

Just go with the cheapest (or where you shop) then try another one if you don't get on with them. The supermarket have pretty much the same for me and been fine, I've used aldi, Asda and sainsburys depending on where I've done my shop the week I've needed to buy nappies.

mummyh2016 · 15/03/2023 20:01

Baby wipes on the other hand are rubbish, best ones I've found are the mama bear ones from Amazon.

We went pampers when he was tiny tiny then aldi premium version then pampers when he outgrew the biggest size, I think they only go to a 4! We went through a lot of nappies in the first few months so the aldi premium ones were a good compromise, I bought both aldi types and felt too bad to put the proper cheap ones on him after feeling the plush ones!

Oh is there a normal aldi and a premium aldi? I didn't realise!

Thank you I didn't realise they had premium too, I'm assuming those are still much cheaper than pampers too. My mum keeps saying how good pampers were when I was a baby 😂 but I said I bet supermarket ones have come a long way since then! 😂😂

@Gingerbreadmama yeah it only worked out a tiny bit cheaper per nappy and there was a huge difference in how nice and padded it felt so we got the premium. They’re in a kind of pale aqua/yellow packet if I remember rightly. Most aldi’s seem to have both normal and premium nappies but the premium ones only went up to a size 3 or 4 so he was out of them before he was 1

That's great to know, we have an aldi a 5 minute walk from us, so it would be really convenient if they are good, also saving a little bit would be great, but of course I'll buy whichever works best for baby, but it's good to know to not avoid them just because of their price!

@Gingerbreadmama totally, I started off with pampers just because I thought that’s what you should do 🙈 I’ll do the same this time though because he has never had nappy rash. I think the main reason for that though is the fact I changed his nappy an awful lot when he was tiny but that was mainly due to the fact I could afford to change it a lot due to using the aldi premium ones. I’d rather have him in a dry aldi nappy then grudge how much it’s costing to keep changing the pampers ones. I’d imagine they’re even more expensive now with everything going up! I only have to buy a pack every so often now he’s a toddler and doesn’t go through them so quick
