Baby head measuring <5% percentile - off the chart

Hello, I had my 20 week scan today at 20 weeks exactly. The sonographer told us that he was booking another scan in 2/3 weeks to check up on the baby as the head was measuring small. After looking at the report the head is showing minus 5% on the percentile and totally off the chart which has really worried me.

The sonographer told us not to worry and it can be normal but I can’t seem to find any positive stories with measurements so low.

Has anyone ever had such low measurements and had a success story? I feel like the next 2/3 weeks are going to be hell waiting for further results.

Hi OP, just want to offer support. In advance, I am sorry if I am speaking out of turn but I delivered at a similar gestation and am here if you want to talk.

I lost my baby before he was born so very different circumstances but I am happy to offer an ear.

Again, if this is insensitive as your options are very different, please accept my apologies

Sending strength x

This is just so awful for you. I am so so sorry. I can’t imagine what you are going through. Was this just picked up on mri and not amnio? Take care of yourselves xx

OP I’m so so sorry and sending you love and a hug. This is terribly sad

@Abid101 Amnio results were all clear, no chromosome defects. The MRI picked up the condition due to a closer look at the brain.

We haven’t had the exome screening tests back yet but they will be able to tell us if it’s a genetic condition that can happen again or if it’s totally random. We already have a 2yo who is a thriving, clever and amazing little boy so I’m hoping it’s totally random.
