I have a pretty extreme phobia of birth. Done it 3 times before. Each time phobia has got worse. Thought I could do it naturally again, but ended up on delivery ward last week for a CtG and had the worlds worst panic attack and various midwife’s and a consultant think it in my best interest to have a section.
Only problem is with jr Dr strikes there is no room to book me in so I have been booked for Thursday 16th March. This is 6 days after my due date. Am currently 40+2.

I have literally sat still for three days. And slept lol. My friend who is a midwife has told me the panic I have will probably stop me going into labour naturally anyway as I think you have to be pretty chill. But I am the complete opposite. I just want to make it to Thursday.

Any tips 😞

If you go into labour before Thursday then presumably a consultant or associate specialist doctor who isn't striking could perform the c section?

I don’t think I’d make it in time. Last baby was born in 37 minutes. So if I go into labour before, it will be vaginal delivery.

Call your midwife and the consultant, get in writing that due to your anxiety this is having a serious impact on your mental health. They will have additional staff available for emergency c sections so they should be able to fit you in.

I think it is unlikely that you can do anything to keep the baby in! Good luck x

Call the perinatal mental health team and get it in writing that due to your history a caesarean is indicated. Make sure that your birth partner has a copy and knows exactly how you want them to advocate for you so that if you go into spontaneous labour you are prepped for an emergency section. How far are you from the labour ward? You will need to go in at the first twinge.
