Hi,

due in October and it will be my first baby born in the UK, I had my DD while living in the US. Had anyone given birth at Wythenshawe Hospital? How was your experience, any advice?

I can't help on experience but will be watching this thread avidly. I'm due in November and recently moved to south Manchester. Everything I'm reading points to Wythenshawe being the best local maternity unit!

I had my baby at Wythenshawe in the summer and I highly, highly recommend it! Every medical professional I met along the way was lovely. The midwives on the triage section were always so informative and caring. I was induced and the care I received during the induction process was amazing..even making me a hot compress for my back during the night.

The midwives on the delivery ward were outstanding! I ended up with failed ventouse / forceps and a category 1 emergency c section and the doctors kept me calm and reassured throughout.

The midwives on the postnatal ward were angels on earth! They all came to check on me regularly as I couldn’t get out of bed at first and I really felt looked after. One of them came and sat and chatted with me once my partner had gone home for the night and kept me company for a bit. I plan to have any future children at this hospital and I couldn’t recommend it enough! Happy to answer any questions!

We also recently moved to the area and I'm planning to have baby at Wythenshawe end of June. @Coco9910 I hope you recovered well and amazing to hear how well looked after you were! Before moving here I'd read good things about the hospital, my stepmum-in-law had her kids there - obviously aaages ago, but even then Wythenshawe was great - and anyone I've mentioned to that I'm delivering there has said great things about it. So seems like a good choice.

I’m also due to give birth at wythenshawe in October. I have not given birth there myself but have several family members who have all given birth here which helped me make my decision as speaking to them about their experiences of giving birth at wythenshawe and other hospitals their experiences were more positive at wythenshawe.

I'm due to give birth here end of June/July.

So far I've found the hospital staff amazing and really caring and kind. The only downfall I would say is the car park! I had to go to triage today and spent more time trying to find a space then I did in the hospital.

I recommend wythenshawe to everyone! I’ve had 2 babies there. Both emergency c sections and the care was brilliant both times. I know lots of other women who have had babies there and all had good experiences. I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about it! The only thing I would say, but this is purely anecdotal as I don’t know their actual statistics is that between me and all the women I know which totals about 7 who have had babies there, 6 of us had c sections so I think they are quite scalpel happy! But it might just have been coincidence that it’s just our group

What an idiot! Just seen this is from March so I suppose you've already delivered! Hope all went well.
