Hi

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and I've been feeling down, Hyperemesis is kicking my butt and the only thing I enjoy right now is a nice warm bath so I treated myself to an Aromatherapy Associates trio pack of bath/body oil.

I used some and then wondered if I was using correctly so googled and it says not recommended in pregnancy and now I'm panicking.

Has anyone else done this?

A few drops in the bath will do absolutely no harm so don't stress! The general advice is to avoid certain essential oils in the last few weeks of pregnancy (especially clary sage oil), but most of them are fine to use throughout.

I am not putting essential oils directly on my skin to eliminate any small risk, but oils used in the bath, in lotions and diffusers etc are ok

I used to run a beauty salon, we didn't use aromatherapy oils on pregnant women as some can induce early labour but the risk was so so so minimal, it was mostly a covering our bums kind of exercise.

One use/exposure really isn't likely to cause any harm so I hope you enjoyed the bath worry-free 😊

Oh thanks so much, you've both put my mind to ease. I just put a few drops in the bath. Didn't rub into my skin but it felt so nice to breathe something in that was calming.

I've had a Google of the essential oils that are safe to use in pregnancy and 2 of the bottles have safe oils in so I'll avoid the one that doesn't until she's here ☺️
