What would you consider a good maternity leave package?

Hi All

I have just received my maternity leave offer from my company and am somewhat disappointed. I was wondering what people's experiences are for maternity pay and what they would view as a good package?

Many thanks!

6 months full pay would be my ideal 😂😂 I could manage quite comfortable on that - and I know a few friends who get this package!!

Ours isn’t the best either -
6 weeks full pay
12 weeks half pay
SMP

Mine is the same as @Izzie94x
Bit cruel isn’t it!

our place also try and make you take as many hols before you go on leave - why would anyone want to do that!!

theres also a Xmas shut down in our place where they give everyone an extra three days off but as it’s not classed as annual leave, women on mat leave over Xmas lose out on these three days.

scandalous.

It’s just awful! Yet our sick pay is 6 months full pay, then 6 months half? I don’t get how sick pay can be more than maternity. I may as well come back from maternity after a few months then go sick!😂

Oh wow that’s so so naughty! I’d be speaking to HR, seems a little discriminatory towards those on maternity leave… lol!

We do also get 10 “KIT” days paid at our full rate. But that’s peanuts really in comparison to my full time salary 😅 x

@RGxo13 is that right? We also get time off between xmas and NY which I will be asking HR if I get. Think we should otherwise we're losing out

I get full pay for 12 weeks then straight into SMP after that but 6 months full pay would be amazing
No pressure to take holidays before going on mat leave but if I were asked, I'd happily oblige.

There is also an incentive for returning and remaining at work for I think a year? Something like a couple of months worth of wages.

Mine is 6 months full pay - but I've had to work at the company for over 3 years to accrue that, between 1-3 years would have been 3 months pay and under a year I think just statutory
