34.4 weeks and fairly severe 'period' cramps. Do I need to see the midwife?

That's it, really ... Had period-y pains low down and down my legs on and off for the last couple of days, got quite intense through the night last night (strong enough to wake me up and require paracetamol) and still here this morning, now radiating round to my back. Also (v sorry if tmi) some mucus-y discharge on saturday ..

Would you go and see the midwife? Don't want to be panic-y first timer; equally don't want to be an idiot!

TIA

yes, phone your midwife, you need to make sure that nothing is going on, and also be tested for a urine infection.

thanks belgo - that's what I thought, think I just needed to hear it from someone else! Much appreciated

It might be worth getting in touch with your midwife, however just as another thought, I had some really nasty pains when my baby turned over. Would have been about the same number of weeks as you are. Was full on contractions and was in agony for about 2 1/2 days. The pains were like early labour pains (this is my second pregnancy) -I thought I was going into labour but was just sprog turning over. Other people I know have said they have had the same thing. I'm 39weeks now and he is still in there.

Ah - hadn't considered that! thanks; hopefully that'll be the reason .. quite like him to stay in there for a bit longer yet.

OK have phoned midwife and she wants to see me, so heading in now .. cross your fingers for me!
