Not myself but I've been told by friends that fertility acupuncture has been helpful. I have PCOS and acupuncture regulated my period and made it less painful so it has helped me in that area too.

I'm nearly 39 so not that much younger, I started taking ubiquinol and also Maca Root to try and help egg quality and honestly just had sex nearly every day, husband was wrecked but a happy man lol I'm only 4W+1 so it's super super early days and taking nothing for granted.

I got fertility checks done and mine are on low side, doctor said not to just be having sex at ovulation time and that there's higher rates of conception with people who have sex at least every 2 days all month long.

Good luck x

I am 40, 41 in 3 weeks and currently 37 weeks pregnant with our little girl. It took us 9 months TTC and pretty much DTD every day. Good luck it can happen :)

@CC0311 I’m 41 and just found out I’m pregnant, I’m cautiously happy since I had a loss in December.
I saw a fertility specialist who recommended CoQ10, DHEA and Vit D for egg quality.
Personally I tried acupuncture but found it didn’t do anything for me but I love reflexology and I swear it helped getting me pregnant. I also think eating healthily, exercising and sleeping well definitely helps.
I used Clearblues digital ovulation tests and when I got a flashing smiley we DTD every day, oh and on the day after ovulation. It helps if you’re in tune with your body and know your cycle, I know when I get egg white cm I’m in my fertile window and I also charted body temperature, it helped confirm ovulation. I found the app Fertility Friend helpful as well; you can add all your data and it’ll give you a fertile window and a possible ovulation day depending on how much data you put in.
Good luck!

I'm 42 and 26 weeks pregnant. Just lots of sex and I took pregnacare. Also made sure not to drink alcohol 4 days a week.

Hi OP, I'm 39, just gone 5 weeks pregnant. There's what I did

  1. After 6 months of trying I had private checks - bloods, internal scan. My AMH levels were low, so egg quality was low. The scan was fine which really helped settle me.
  2. After 9 months got my partners bloods and sperm analysis checked. Everything was fine.
  3. I was an occasional smoker...well more vaper. Went cold turkey September 2022.
  4. Started my own research on egg quality, started taking CoQ10 & Ubiquinol and specific fertility tablets like Zita West. Goggle will be able to help explain the benefits.
  5. Slowly cut out alcohol and reduced coffee, taking more caffeine free (tho coffee is now my love).
  6. Exercised every day - walks, got back into running, hiking, swimming and weights. I have plenty of time after work so threw myself into lots of self care. I ran 3 x 5k's on my lunch breaks the week before i found out i was pregnant !
  7. The most important thing for me was BEING SUPER POSITIVE. I kept telling myself it would happen. My mindset was focused on creating the right conditions - mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
  8. Used ovulation tests and DTD as much as possible. I didn't 100% relay on the tests, tried to enjoy the process.
i hope this helps.

Thank you so much ladies! I’ve now got the supplements so fingers crossed. If it doesn’t happen I will try the acupuncture. Really appreciate the advice x

Hello,

I am 41 and 20 weeks pregnant. As well as some of the things mentioned above, after trying for 6 months my GP also referred me for fertility treatment. The NHS waiting list was 35 weeks so worth seeing your GP as early as you can if it’s your first baby. Also following referral they will also did some initial tests (progesterone, bloods, sperm referral) which can help.

(During the waiting list period I fell pregnant, miscarried and then found out I was pregnant again 1 week after the initial fertility conversation! But helpful to know I was on the list just in case)

Wishing you all the best

Hi, I'm 41 and just had a baby 5 weeks ago. It took us about a year to conceive her, including 1 loss 7 months before I got pregnant with her. We tried supplements but I don't think any of them worked, was no longer taking them when I got pregnant. What worked for us was DTD every single day, we enjoyed this, it wasn't like a chore just to get pregnant or anything, wishing you best of luck, lots of people have babies in their 40s these days, I'm sure you'll be fine

BritInAus · 20/04/2023 03:30

Agree with the above about supplements. All the usual lifestyle stuff.
But mostly, seek help sooner rather than later. There are lots of fertility treatments out there - not just nothing or IVF - and at 41 you don't want to delay for say 12 months if it hasn't happened naturally.

@CC0311 hi, I’m just stumbled across this thread as I’m in a similar situation. How are you getting on? How are the supplements? Thanks

CC0311 · 18/05/2023 21:16

Hi @Harrjenk ! I’m a bit deflated at the moment each time the same time each month it’s still not a positive line. However last month I started acupuncture as it is supposed to help the quality of the egg and blood flow. I’m staying positive though. Still taking the supplements too. I’m doing everything right now just saying a wee prayer for a miracle. How are you getting on x

I'm pregnant with #2 age 41. Had my first at 39 after years of infertility. I cut out alcohol and exercised, just walking is enough as long as its daily. I couldn't get pregnant age 31 because I didn't make any lifestyle changes, it took 2 months at 39 and 2 months at 41 and I honestly believe it was the lifestyle changes (my DH quit alcohol too). Good luck OP, is this your first?

Jaystarlight · 09/06/2023 10:58

I hesitated before writing this as don’t want to come across as boastful but at 43 I didn’t take any supplements at all. I don’t drink alcohol and had sex around ov day and boom. I wasn’t planning on a baby as thought was peri menopause. I believe staying relaxed is so beneficial and not to stress. In the last boots trying for a baby worked for me. I wish you all the luck.
