Early pregnancy I think I'm really dehydrated, should I get checked?

Hi so I'm about 8 weeks pregnant. My morning sickness started quite badly when I was 4 and a half weeks pregnant, this is my 3rd baby and its the earliest its started. I had severe morning sickness for 17 weeks with my first pregnancy and don't remember feeling this bad.

For about 3 weeks now I've not been able to drink any water or juice, I've forced myself into having sips of lemonade, fruit juice and water but it just comes back up. I used to drink loads of water before I got pregnant but as well as not being able to keep it down ive also completely gone of the taste of water and juices, I can't even wash my face with water and brush my teeth without almost being sick because of the smell of the water if that makes sense.

So this has been like this for over 3 weeks, I've only been going to the toilet 1 or 2 times a day once when I wake up and once in the evening and my wee is very dark which isn't normal for me as I said I always used to drink loads before pregnancy and go to the toilet alot but now it's 1 or 2 times a day for a wee. As the days go on I am feeling weaker and weaker, I can't do normal things and I'm starting to get dizzy and blurry vision.

I had my 8 week booking appointment with my midwife today, she just said I need to make an appointment with my gp so they can check how dehydrated I am, but they aren't open now till Monday.

She offered to take blood tests to which I agreed, I've never ever had a problem with blood tests, I have massive veins and when ever I get a blood test it's so easy and they always tell me " lovely veins" it started like that today she said " oh nice veins" then started the blood test, after a couple of minutes I noticed it was quite painful so I looked down and saw no blood was actually coming out and she was moving the needle around saying I can't get any blood out, at this point I started to panic because I've never had an issue with blood tests so I got scared, she told me it's because I'm dehydrated and said she would try once more on my other arm if I agreed, I said OK and same thing , I have massive veins in both arms but at first on the 2nd arm it wouldn't even come out, then all of a sudden a little bit came out and it looked really thick, she then told me I looked pale so to sit down for a few minutes because she didn't want me to faint.
I now have 2 nasty bruises on both my arms and now scared of blood tests.

I just feel so awful, is it worth getting checked out by a doctor ? Will they even do anything. I'm just worried I am going to end up getting more dehydrated or making myself more ill expecially as they wasn't able to draw blood from me today ( only a little by thr 2nd arm)

I feel really weak and keep getting dizzy and I just can't drink anything.
Does anyone have any advice ?

Have you tried small sips of rehydration drinks like dioralyte? If you really can’t stomach any liquid I would definitely go to the doctor, I’m surprised if you’re as bad as you say that the midwife didn’t do more tbh.

Sounds like u need to go walk in centre or somethjng
1/2 wees of dark urine isnt good
i did this and then started becoming breathless and dizzy
i ended up on epu
two lots of antisickness and six bags of fluid later
need to see someone ur ketones will be sky high.

I would get checked out. At about 30 weeks I had to go in and be put on a drip, anti sickness injections and then lots of repeat blood tests because they were worried about my kidneys too. I also found anti sickness meds worked well for me.

Yes, you need to get checked out asap.

I don't understand why your midwife wasn't more alarmed.

Did your midwife dip your wee? She would have seen ketones if you were dehydrated. You can get ketone dip sticks online to keep an eye on things but if in doubt I'd call GP or midwife.

I had to go via A&E a few times as I couldn’t get a GP appointment and needed iv fluids. Each time though they gave me an anti sickness injection so I could drink enough water to do a wee sample so they could test my ketones. Without the ketones test gynae wouldn’t see me and give me the fluids. Just to warn you as being dehydrated makes it really hard to get a urine sample on demand.

please don’t wait until Monday - the fluids will make such a difference!

good luck

No, she asked me to do a urine sample which I did but she said the first urine sample gets sent off to test for any uni's and I need to see a gp to get a test to see how dehydrated I am. I told her how ill and weak I was feeling and I assumed after she couldn't draw blood from me she would take me more seriously when I kept telling her this had never happened to me before and it's always very easy but she didnt she just sent me on my way. I am thinking I might call 111 today to see if they can be of any help to me as I don't know why this isn't like my other 2 pregnancies I just have this feeling off I can't tolerate all this this time I can't bear it but my husband has been telling me since last week the doctors won't do anything as its normal so that's why I've been making myself tolerate it.

I called 111 and i've spoken to the doctor at the urgent care centre, they have prescribed me anti sickness tablets to hopefully help with my sickness! Thank you for all your replies!
