@HannahLouLou24 I was a bit stuck I nearly ordered Zita West but it works out so expensive!

I’ve used pregnacare previously but they can make you nauseous. I’ve gone for one called proceive this time. They do ones tailored to each trimester and supposed to absorb better. They’re the ones recommended to me when I asked about vitamins

Ask your midwife but I just got the folic acid + vit D from boots

PrimarilyParented · 02/03/2023 20:03

I’m taking pregnacare as it’s what was in stock in my local pharmacy but I took seven seas in my last pregnancy and was very happy with them too (and found them cheaply in Bodycare).

It depends on your budget. Most prenatal vits like Pregnacare contain lots of fillers and other additives that can give some people adverse symptoms such as constipation and nausea. Also, folic acid is not as easily absorbed as methylfolate. In fact, some people have a genetic predisposition that means they can't absorb folic acid. I take the Methyl Pregnancy Multinutrient from BioCare. I know they're well made and don't contain any unnecessary additives. But they are expensive.

It depends on your budget. Many cheaper prenatal vits contain fillers and other unnecessary additives that can give you adverse reactions such as nausea and constipation.
Also, folic acid is the synthetic form of folate. It's cheap to produce. However, around 50% of people have a genetic variation that means they can't absorb folic acid very well or at all. Methylfolate is the activated version of folate, which is easily absorbed so it's best to take this instead.
I take the Methyl Pregnancy Multinutrient from BioCare. It's expensive but I know it's well made and I'm guaranteed to actually get the benefits from the folate as I can't be sure if I can metabolise folic acid.

@UnicornRainbowSky maybe that’s why I’ve been constipated for the past 4 months then🤦🏻‍♀️

Moni81 · 03/03/2023 19:27

Constipation is normal in pregnancy. I'm 14 weeks now, my bowel movement definitely improved, I'm not constipated and go to toilet every day. I also take pregnancare original and I don't think it's vitamins fault, just normal pregnancy symptom at some point. If you think vitamins make sick, take them before bed. I find Amazon has best deals on pregnancare, I literally bought 3 months worth of supplies for just over £6 as it was half price.
