I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and I’m 42. I’ve already got 3 older children and this has come to as a surprise. I’m very worried about complications at the age I am and I’m over weight and although I’ve had 3 healthy babies, my age is a big concern to me.
Are there any others in the same boat or any positive experiences?

Congratulations, I'm in similar situation as you, 42 and 13 weeks pregnant with third surprise child. So far it's going well, yes I may get more tired and my belly popped very early on but I don't feel sick as I did with previous pregnancies. From care point they will not let you go over due date and offer induction at 39 weeks. I was also put on aspirin from 12 weeks because of age and my last pregnancy being over 10 years ago. Had my first scan and so far so good, do not worry in advance. Actually count yourself lucky, it's not that easy to get pregnant naturally in our age. Would say it's like last shot, fertility goes steep down especially 43 onwards.

Thank you. My last pregnancy was over 8 years ago and now at this age it’s been a bit of a shocker! I’m already concerned about all of the things you hear about carrying over 40 plus what people might think. Yes I’ve heard it’s hard to fall pregnant over 40 too, thought I was too old for this 🙈

I had my baby at 41. I did get pre eclampsia towards the end of my pregnancy but I wasn't ill with it and my baby was born safely and is healthy.

Pleased to hear all was well in the end for you. I’ve heard pre eclampsia is more common with age.

I’m 42 and 37 weeks pregnant. Had one baby 5 years ago. This pregnancy has been easier, fewer issues, though obviously not a walk in the park - still very tired in the first and last trimesters.

im also 2 stones heavier than 5years ago so… you can do it if you want. Just take multivitamins. I took pregnancare max that has fish oil too. Took extra vit D, iron and zinc - from time to time. Even with the multivitamin I noticed from private bloods that my Vit D levels and iron were dropping. Taking these has made me feel less tired.

good luck x

Had DD2 at 41 last August, we chose to have the NIPT test privately to check for Downs, Edwards etc all came back low risk. Pregnancy wise, all fine, induction started at 39 weeks, and now have a healthy six month old. Sleepless nights feel a little harder than when I had DD1 8 years ago, but otherwise no different:) congratulations

I got pregnant at 42 with twins, having them at 43. I have been tired but not too many complications. The daily blood thinning injections and daily aspirin are more to do with the twin / IVF part. Morning sickness went on from 6 to 18 weeks but again that’s probably the twin bit. I have barely put on any weight maybe 10 pounds and that’s mainly baby / placentas / fluid

@Cakecrumbs25 Congratulations!
I just turned 41 and I’m 4 weeks pregnant with no 2, I started late in life and my son is 2.5. I had a loss in December so I’m cautiously happy. If I get that far I’m planning on having a NIP test around week 11 because of my age.

@Cakecrumbs25 congratulations! I will be 42 in 3 weeks and hoping to get pregnant in the next few months. I found out in September 22 (age 41) that I was pregnant, massive shock as our 8 year old was IVF in 2014. Unfortunately baby had an extensive cystic hygroma, trisomy 21 and a 10% chance of survival so we TFMR. I was reassured by the consultant that although risk does increase with age this was likely not related to my age, just one of those things and to go for it again when and if we feel ready. Although I had all the worries you have described, I now feel a massive loss and hope to be part of the club again soon! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy, you absolutely can do this and all will be fine xx
