7 weeks - hematoma likely to cause miscarriage

I am wondering if anyone has experienced similar as I can’t find much online. 3 nights ago (7 weeks +3 days pregnant) I started bleeding a lot of bright red blood with some clotting. I’ve had a miscarriage before which started similarly so we headed straight to A&E who after checking me over booked me in for a vaginal scan later that day. At the scan the sonographer told me that the baby is still there and there is a heartbeat, but they said the baby is positioned lower than they would usually expect, she said this could be where the foetus naturally implanted or this could be due to the hematoma moving it. A doctor then looked over my scan and told me it is likely I will have another miscarriage and that there is more bleeding inside me that looks like it will probably come out bringing the foetus with it. I wish I had asked more questions at the time but I was just crushed at the prospect of a second miscarriage that I couldn’t think straight. I have another scan next weds but the doctor said I may or may not miscarry before then. Has anyone been through a similar experience who can share their story with me or offer any advice? Thank you so much.

Sorry I can't help but I'm experiencing similar. I'm 7.2 today and last week had a lot of gushing red blood over 3 days. Had a private scan who said there was a small embryo measuring 5.5 (I would have been 6.3) with a heartbeat. But they said there was a subchorionic hematoma that was causing the bleeding. I didn't really know what to ask. But they didn't tell me anything about the position or size (but the report they emailed said it was 40×11×17mm) and that there was still lots there so to expect more bleeding. They just said to get rescanned in 2 weeks to check on it. I haven't bled since yet but I'm waiting for it to happen. I feel kind of in limbo waiting.

I had some light bleeding (but no clotting) and cramping at 8w+5d, went to EPU and the scan discovered a large subchorionic haematoma. The baby was fine and the heartbeat was strong, and the haematoma was "not at the pregnancy site" so the sonographer and midwife were not concerned about it. I came back home and did some research and decided to put myself on bedrest as much as I can, to avoid heavy bleeding flushing out the baby. I would recommend you do the same: Try to lie in bed as much as you can, no walking / standing up for long period, no lifting anything heavy, drinking lots of water, until the bleeding stops.

In general, the bigger the sch is compared to the sac, the more risky it is, esp at earlier gestation stage. Sch located underneath the placenta is also said to be more problematic.

I found a lot of useful info on another site: community.whattoexpect.com/forums/subchorionic-hematoma.html

I've really only seen one or two cases mentioning miscarrying due to sch, among the hundreds of threads I've read so far, so fingers crossed for you both and hopefully it'll be happy outcome.

I wrote my experience in an earlier thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/4724228-large-subchorionic-haematoma-but-not-much-bleeding

@katerose2022 Thank you so much for your message. Reading all the comments on your post has been really helpful. I would’ve thought bed rest would be important but the doctor didn’t mention anything about that to me, not sure if that means there is little hope left as she did seem quite confident that I would miscarry. I’m going to call today and ask all the questions I didn’t think to at the time. Thanks again for all your advice, lots of love ❤️
