Hi everyone, I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant with my second child. At my 12 week scan I remember the sonographer asking me whether I had been told before about my uterus being a certain shape which was called a bicornuate uterus. I briefly remembered seeing something on the scan notes when I had my first (which was 11 years ago so I’m a bit rusty) that said about it but not much was really mentioned on it throughout my pregnancy. They didn’t really say much at my current scan either other than asking that question. I stupidly googled it and all sorts of horrors came up related to that and pregnancy! It’s made me a bit anxious even though I had no problems the first time and they haven’t really said about any concerns just that it was that type of shape. Does anyone else have the same thing?..

Hi There
I have a BU, My first pregnancy resulted in a Mc at 9 weeks but I have been assured this has nothing to do with BU. Currently 32 weeks pregnant, Baby is breech and I’ve been told it’s unlikely they will turn due to BU so prepare for a c section, baby’s weight is abit small but still within normal range, they can find it hard to get an accurate measurement, depending on babies position. I think a lot depends on how severe the indentation of the uterus is, I’ve asked lots of questions and everything has been reassuring to date, I’d advise not to Google as it really upset me after my MC, just listen to your consultant but I found they are only really
talking me through different delivery options now and won’t make a decision until 34-36 weeks, depending on next growth scan and baby’s position. Hope this helps!

I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus by the EPU after having bleeding. I also freaked out after googling it. I’m under a consultant and being scanned every two weeks to check cervical length atm and it is looking like I may need a stitch or pressaries (apparently you’re at a higher risk for an incompetent cervix). I’ll also have growth scans every 4 weeks later in the pregnancy. However, if you had an uneventful pregnancy the first time I doubt that it’ll be a problem this time. My consultant explained that some women with it can have one underdeveloped horn, which increases the risks. I did lots of googling and saw lots of stories where everything is fine.

Hello! I have had 3 babies all delivered at full term. I bled in my first trimester with all 3 pregnancies due to my BU and also had alot of pain due to my womb stretching in early pregnancy, and all 3 of my children were born with positional talipes, which in 2 out of 3 of my children, corrected itself within a few months of being born. I also found it very scary reading what google brings up about the risks of having a BU, but I think it depends on how severely you have it and probably many other factors. You could always ask for extra monitoring if you are worried and hopefully the doctors/midwives will help put your worries at ease or make sure you get what ever extra assistance you need to make it safely to full term. It sounds promising that you have had a child before though. I hope all goes well with this pregnancy too.
