Complete placenta previa Experiences

Hi girls,

I had a private scan today and 11 and 3 and was diagnosed with complete placenta previa. I saw it myself and it is completely covering my cervix. It's almost smack bang centred on it.

My dating scan at hospital is in 2 weeks time.

I know there's a chance it can move, but how likely is it when it's COMPLETELY centred and covering my cervix. I think any stories that it moved may have been partially covering or low lying.

My mind is doing 90 at the thoughts or the months ahead 😢 risk to me and baby, possible long hospital stay being away from my toddler , c section, bleeding, no sex with hubby, I just don't know what to think.

Has any one had a similar experience and what happened?

Mine was completely covered still at 28 weeks and then had moved enough by 32 weeks to have a natural birth. Same thing happened to a friend of mine but with later dates.

Please don't worry, most people's move. Especially this early on.

Good luck and get back to enjoying your pregnancy.

Hello! I’m 35+4 with complete PP. Mine was noticed at a private gender scan at 17 weeks then confirmed at 20 weeks. The sonographer told me 90% (ish can’t remember) move but then said “but yours is really covering” 😂 she gave me a leaflet which left me scared for my life and that was it until 28 weeks for another scan!

Mine is still covering, at about 30 weeks I had some light brown blood after I had been walking for about 2 hours, got checked and no red blood so was just told to take it easy. Since I found out I was too scared to have sex so haven’t had any and at this stage I don’t want to cause a bleed and leave my toddler either.

I’ve had many scans and my c section should be 36 weeks, they wanted me to go into hospital at 34 weeks but I refused, I don’t want to live in the hospital for no reason. I live in the same town as the hospital my section is at though so they were ok with this.

Im really bored though because I basically can’t do anything but better than being stuck in hospital.

I highly recommend googling positive PP
stories, I was really frightened and worried too op!

Sorry that was so long, was just trying to be reassuring just in case yours doesn’t move, but it probably will!

Mine didn't move, so I had a c section in the end. It didn't bother me at all, apart from I had a haemorrhage after the section and then an infection later at home. Other than that the recovery was pretty normal. I was just grateful to have my child. I didn't care how she came out.

Went well for you. Did you spend any time in the hospital before your birth or on bed rest/ being monitored? ❤️

I had complete placenta previa, C-section was scheduled for 38 weeks but had a bleed at 33 weeks and told not to go further than 15 mins from the hospital, they only let me home because I live so close. Had a worse one at 34 weeks and was admitted until delivery which they hoped would be 37-38 weeks. At 34+1 I had a much bigger bleed and emcs was arranged for first thing the next morning. I only lost 600ml during the birth and was absolutely fine, baby had lung issues and was very ill for the first few days, but thankfully she recovered and was allowed home 4 weeks later.

If they advised staying in hospital I wouldn’t argue it, if I had had the third bleed anywhere other than the hospital I would have been terrified and absolutely soaked in blood and clots.

I had a complete pp at 30 weeks, wasn't aware of it until I got off my seat in a shop to be served and had a massive gush, thought it was my waters but no it was blood. Rush to the hosp and was found to have an infection and no amniotic fluid.stayed in hospital for 5 days and was told that a vaginal delivery was not possible but of pp. Had a emergency csec at exactly 31 weeks. Baby was in neonatal unit for 5 weeks. I had complications straight after I came home a week later and was readmitted. Spent 4 weeks in hospital and was quite illand I was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

I’ve got a window for my section which is anytime from Friday, should find out the date Thursday ☺️

I live a 10 minute drive, they only asked me if I lived in the same town. It’s a big hospital so caters for surrounding towns so I don’t think they would have been as keen if I lived in another town half hour away!

Thanks OP very excited! Please do search positive stories, I did and screenshotted them so I could keep looking at them when I felt really worried. Everyone’s going to have a different experience and yours will likely still move!

It completely moved thankfully. It became a complete non issue thank god! I am 32 weeks now and no more mention of it, it had moved completely by about 16 weeks. 🎉
