Hello all, today we had our 20week scan, we told the two ladies that we didn't want to know the gender keeping it a surprise, they started at babies feet then told us as they were moving up they told us to look away and they kind of laughed and said ah like they had saw it just seemed obvious that its a boy very noticeable (i cant remember what they said but it definitely sounded obvious) later into the scan my husband thought he heard them say 'he' i know its very common for sonographers to say he or she sometimes without baby being that gender, im a bit upset as I feel it isn't a surprise anymore my husband is like its not 100% but im like I just know 🙈😂
here is our scan photos do you think boy or girl now i think I want to know for sure its a boy cause I feel like I do anyway if you get me :) x

@Hevviie aw thank you lovely, im gonna sleep on it and if im like I want to know I will book in for a scan its the overthinking im doing is making it seem like it's not a surprise anymore cause im putting things all together like right what happened at my scan today, the tales, my low bump just how my mind works 🙈 x

@ancientgran very true point there, then im thinking but would they laugh at it not being a nub, I dunno im overthinking to much into it 😂x

I don't know why they'd laugh at it not being a nub but then I don't know why they'd laugh at a nub. I assume half the scans they do are boys so it isn't like it's a novelty. Like someone else suggested I think baby was probably legs akimbo proudly showing what they'd got and it made them laugh.

I think you are probably where you started, 50/50 it's a boy.

MummaLeonax · 01/02/2023 22:04

Thank you all for your advice it means alot! if I do feel like I want to know I will book in a 4d scan and ask them there :) honestly appreciate all of your helpful comments thank use for being so kind x

More importantly, I presume your baby looked healthy as you’re only worrying about the sex?

ReallyShouldBeDoingSomethingElse · 01/02/2023 22:08

The sonographer said 'he' in my 20-week scan. I told everyone I was having a boy. I could not believe my eyes when DD appeared...

Hevviie · 01/02/2023 22:09

I totally get it, I overthought every single comment at every scan! I found them all so anxiety inducing....but I do think just sleep on it because you might just have normal post-scan heightened emotions, and maybe in a few days you'll feel like actually the reaction could have been about either sex and you still want that surprise. But if it's still stressing you out after that time then I would book the private scan x

IaminRome · 01/02/2023 22:12

We had a girl and apparently it's the three lines of the vulva/labia that they can clearly see. So still could be obvious to them it was a girl, or a boy

OneMoreWish · 01/02/2023 22:14

I went with my sister for her scan and we didn't mind knowing, we all laughed because my niece did a wee right on cue when the sonogram camera was on that area- could have been laughing for something like that?

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx

DarkShade · 01/02/2023 22:18

Remember that these are experienced sonographers, at 20 weeks if baby is in an obvious position then they will see it straight away. They're probably laughing at how easy baby was making it for them. I don't think them seeing it instantly shows it's a boy.

Charlieiscool · 01/02/2023 22:26

It isn’t a nub at 20 weeks and they haven’t given you any pictures showing the genitals. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about.

MummaLeonax · 01/02/2023 22:36

@199O yes which is very good to hear 😇 im not worrying about the sex, I was upset about the surprise im happy either way boy or girl x

@Hevviie thank you so much lovely x

@IaminRome yeah true point! x

@OneMoreWish gosh I bet that was a interesting scan to see 😂🙊 brilliant that is! bless you thank you very much xx

@DarkShade I just over think the overthinking 😂 thank you x

@Charlieiscool I know they haven't given any photos showing the genitals as they wouldn't because I asked not to know just didnt know by the photos if you could tell boy or girl.. ah okay not a nub then but would be a bump or something no? x

I remember telling the sonographer that I didn't want to know the gender of my babies. She laughed and said no chance of thay anyway, the legs are firmly crossed.

I had a high bump and a low bump, both were perfect little boys.

Mammyloveswine · 01/02/2023 23:45

The 20 week scan is to check the baby us healthy.. nobody is conspiring to hide or reveal your baby's sex...

Be grateful you have a healthy baby,

freezingpompoms · 02/02/2023 06:49

How do you feel today OP?

MummaLeonax · 02/02/2023 08:06

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 02/02/2023 08:16

With DS, I was scanned weekly as my bump was tiny. Got all the way through to week 37, planned section next day as he wasn’t growing as they wanted… sonographer, oh there he is! 🤬

Jb2182 · 02/02/2023 08:24

MummaLeonax · 01/02/2023 21:42

@ratherbthedevil yes thats exactly what I seem to do read the wives tales 😂 and then im like well i had the same symptoms with my son so its a boy 😂 I will be bloody shocked if a girl honestly after all this reading and then thinking the professionals may have pointed out the obvious x

If it makes you feel any better OP, you've had two similar pregnancies, I had two completely different pregnancies, both girls! I was convinced my second was a boy because it all felt so different to the first. So you never know ♥ either way, congratulations xxx

freezingpompoms · 02/02/2023 12:45

I think you should wait too op. You wanted a surprise and you've got this far. Pop back and let us know though!

MummaLeonax · 02/02/2023 18:37

@Jb2182 many wives tales isnt there, bless you thank you very much 🤗💖x

@freezingpompoms yes that is true aswell I will do thank you very much.
