36 weeks - how to book elective cesaerian due to SPD?

So I'm 36 weeks now, been signed off work for 3 weeks and now made to take early mat leave due to abdominal pain, likely caused by pubic bone splitting with SPD...I am so sick of being in pain, I'm exhausted and don't think I even have the stamina or mental strength required for a vaginal birth. I want to ask for an elective cesaerian and this is probably a stupid question but do you just ask your midwife at the usual appointment and they refer you to the obstetrician?
I have my regular mw appointment on Thursday and feeling quite anxious about asking in case they try and convince me otherwise..maybe because I'm still not 100% sure if it's the right choice! I think I'm about 90% sure though, Im so scared of long term damage to my pelvis if I try a vb and could end up with a CS anyway! Thanks for any advice!

Hi, i had an elective c section for medical reasons (not pain though) and it was booked at 36 weeks, but I'd been seeing a consultant every few weeks before that and method of birth was discussed early on.

Although technically you can have a CS for any reason or none, I think you'd need to get on the ball pretty sharpish cause it might take a couple of weeks to even get you to see a consultant, who may not agree and they may need to refer you on etc etc. good luck!

@snowflake29 thanks, did you actually have the section at 36 weeks? I hope it's not too late for me! I wonder if there's any way I can get the ball rolling before midwife appt on Thursday, I just have no idea how to get on this ball 😅

I did exactly this. So worried about doing further damage to my pelvis and pelvic floor. They said yes and booked me in but it was a squeeze because I asked quite late in pregnancy so do it ASAP. Ask mw first and go from there. Stay firm. It was such a hard decision but as soon as I decided c section I felt a huge sense of relief. I was using crutches and mostly bedbound with pain and just the reassurance of knowing it wouldn't get worse with the unknowns of vaginal birth was fantastic. Then the lower half anaesthetic was literally a dream come true. No pain at all after months of pain. Best of luck to you 😊

@Jjbgghkkjb oh my goodness this is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you x

@Maya12345 no it was done at 39+1 as they would only do electives from 39 weeks.

You could ring your midwife/the hospital and ask them to put the referral to a consultant for you?

@snowflake29 ah I see thank you, I'll call them up tomorrow x
