Movement....

I'm currently 25 weeks & I called my midwife yesterday about reduced movements- I went in where she checked the heartbeat ( she found it although it was very quiet) she said that could be down to positioning of my placenta etc. baby is usually very active at night and last night again I only felt a couple of small movements, nothing like the normal. Am I worrying too much or should I contact my midwife again? I'm just worried that his movements haven't been anywhere near the way they were a couple of days ago. Thank you xxx

I would contact them again and tell them your worried

I would go to your closest day assessment unit. I did this when I was pregnant, they attached me to a monitoring machine to check baby's heart beat over the course of half an hour. The staff were so kind and although all was fine, they reassured me that I did exactly the right thing and to go back if I was concerned again. It's better to be safe and checking a heart beat briefly with a Doppler is certainly not as good as being hooked up to a monitor. It's worth it just even just for peace of mind. Wishing you all the best x

Oh and if you do go, take snacks, you might have a bit of a wait ☺️

I've called triage who have basically said because of how many weeks I am they probably won't put me on the monitor?? She's getting hold of the community midwife and getting back to me! Xx

My local unit won't put you on the monitor until something like 30 weeks- before that it was a Doppler check. Whenever I've been and they've said everything is ok they have firmly reminded me to call back if I have further concerns so I think you're doing the right. Hopefully the midwife will be able to help.

I can't remember the gestation when I went into the day assessment unit to be honest but you are certainly doing the right thing by getting in touch again if you are concerned x

davegrohll · 26/01/2023 13:22

I was put on the monitor from 26 weeks. Do go and get checked again though, you need to listen to your instinct otherwise you won't relax !

vik1233 · 26/01/2023 13:24

I just went to see my midwife who listened to baby's heart beat again and all sounded well so I can relax a bit more now. Thanks everyone xx

Last week I had my midwife appointment where I told her he was a bit more quiet than he had been, less movement. She checked heartbeat and it was perfect. Then the next day at exactly 24 weeks I still was uncomfortable because I just knew his movements were still not as much as they had been. So I went to maternity unit and then monitored him for a bit and again, perfect.

He is absolutely fine and back to his cheeky self. I think they can sort of find a new position and just like to panic us sometimes but I 100% do not regret going back to have him checked. We know our babies best after all!

Xx

Glad you have relaxed abit now.
I was always there 😆 literally every time I thought the baby had established a pattern, she would go quiet for a few days and then start up again with a new pattern !! Drove myself mad i did ! But by about 32ish weeks she did seem to settle and have more reliable movements each day.

Glad you went Op and you've been reassured x
