C section recovery essentials/tips?

I’m having a planned C section at the end of February and just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for essentials I might need for recovery?

So far I‘ve been told that I need lots of high waisted underwear to avoid irritating the scar, and I’ve also stocked up on the Always boutique disposable underwear. A friend gave me some Expert Midwife Spritz for Bits which she said I can spray on my scar to help it heal.

Does anyone else have any tips or suggestions for things that they found helpful for c section recovery?

thank you in advance!

Arnica tablets to help with recovery from bruising inside and out

Don't be a martyr if you need more or stronger painkillers ask for them. And keep on top of them.

Peppermint tea to help with constipation.

Batch cook and freeze as many meals as your freezer will hold.

Forget about housework.

Good bf pillow if planning to bf to protect your wound, help with posture.

Some dramatic experiences on here that I can’t relate to.

I had a C-section at 42 for the birth of my only child and had no issues. I was out and about and went to the shops a couple of days after the operation. I took painkillers for 2/3 days but didn’t really need them.

I was a little cautious regarding any physical
activity for a short while but nothing too dramatic.

It was way less painful than I anticipated. In fact as an older mother who was subjected to a huge number of warnings and check ups I felt the whole process from early pregnancy right through to post birth recovery was far easier than I was led to believe it would be.

Don't bathe. Shower. I bathed and my scar just kept getting wet and soggy and unsurprisingly ended up infected.

Don't do too much too soon. It will set your recovery back.

Meal prep.

Have snack/tv stations set up upstairs and downstairs. It took a few weeks before I could go up and down stairs while carrying baby. Make sure you have a changing table and Moses baskets that you can access without having to bend/lift too much. If your partner can take extra time off work it will help massively.
