Achy hips/bum/lower back when sat down for periods of time - 25 weeks pregnant

Hi!

So I'm getting a numb/achy bum/hips/lower back when sat for periods of time (I do get up and walk around in the day, promise I'm not sat for like 3+ hours at a time) and it's not overly painful/annoying but I feel a bit silly getting a ball at 25 weeks? (I'm a first time mum so not really sure what helps?!)

I also get the same when sleeping, but know that's going to be the case...

Is a ball the best way forward or is it way too early?

Thank you!

This is the point I booked into the physio, and yes get a better chair or a ball!

Definitely get one and give it a try! May also be worth looking up SPD/PGP - I struggled with this but couldn't label it for ages because, having never had pelvic pain before, I couldn't pin point where the pain was coming from. If the ball doesn't help definitely speak to your midwife about physio/pay for it if you can afford it.

@HippeePrincess @SirWalterElliot Thank you both... I will try getting a ball then... I have also just googled PGP and can relate a fair bit, midwife appt is coming up so will discuss with them and see what I can do. I do also have physio which is amazing! so thank you.... least I don't feel stupid getting a ball now! 😂

I have some of this and I’m 25weeks. Mostly it’s backache when I’m sitting down, and hip pain when I’m sleeping. I’ve always been a back sleeper so I don’t know if it’s all pregnancy related or just having to sleep on my side.

Yes, a ball makes a huge difference. I can't sit comfortably on a chair for more than a short period, but can go most of the day on a ball. I'm 30 weeks but the PGP/SPD started at 20 weeks. If you're somewhere that you can't take a ball, a soft chair is better than a hard one. I've resorted to bringing a cushion with me.

@Blue2020 I am the same, such a back sleeper!... currently propping myself almost upright at night because its more comfy than my side (not sure if that's allowed but will ask midwife next week)
